Welcome to this creative meditation from Before the Brush.
I'm Patricia Baldwin-Segabrook,
And this is one of three creative meditations that are centered around thought bubbles,
As I call them.
Before I begin my practice in the studio,
Most days,
I like to give myself something to chew on.
That is,
My mind something to chew on.
By giving my mind words,
Things it can process,
Identify with,
And turn over.
It tells it,
My brain,
That it is safe,
It is cared for,
It is appreciated,
And it is doing a good job.
This then,
Allows it to quiet down its judgments and discernments as I process into the paint.
This freeing up of headspace through this engagement,
Lets my hands and my gut,
My intuition and my heart,
Do the work that really is there for them in the creative process.
Here in this meditation,
It's pretty darn simple.
I'm going to read to you some of my favorite thought bubbles.
You too can sit quietly and just listen to them and let them go through your brain,
Processing through those synapses,
Changing,
Engaging,
Or you can set it on repeat.
Have your brain grab hold of them as your hand is grabbing hold of the paintbrush.
You choose.
Be easy.
Take your time.
You,
My dear,
Are coming home to yourself.
This doesn't have to be your entire novel.
It really can just be a chapter.
Determined to accept any whisper of an invitation to go up and meet God?
Ere on the side of readiness.
It's always better to seek in all season than not to seek at all when there is much to be found.
The work grows as our mind and body would have it grow.
You must hold still and wait.
And yet,
You also must push forward.
God can't bless it if you don't build courage and faith.
Mary,
When you go after your passion,
Willing to look like a fool for a while.
I walk into a painting and I walk out changed.
I wear this world all day.
A critical step on our journey and one will take over and over is to let ourselves experience spiritual hunger long enough and deep enough to follow it to its source.
There is something more difficult and therefore more right that I can do than just live pleasantly.
The place God calls you is the place where your passion and the world's great needs collide.
Stop speaking.
Use your eyes instead.
I choose to live up to my dreams.
When you get up in the morning,
You must take your heart in your own two hands.
You must do this every morning.
The curious paradox is that when I accept myself,
Then I change.
Change your lens.
Change your life.
