Centering Prayer - The Beatitudes (Matthew 5)

A Centering Prayer from Matthew 5 (ESV). Beatitude inherited its blessedness from the Latin word beatus, meaning both "happy" and "blessed." In the Bible, the Beatitudes are a series of eight blessings.

Centering Prayer
1. Choose a sacred word as the symbol of your intention to consent to God’s presence and action within you.
2. Sitting comfortably and with eyes closed, settled briefly and silently introduce the sacred word as the symbol of your consent to God’s presence and action within.
3. When engaged with your thoughts, return ever-so-gently to the sacred word. (Normal flow in our consciousness-distractions) Don’t resist, let them go and tolerate.
4. At the end of the prayer period, remain in silence with eyes closed for a couple of minutes.

For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
