This course is the first of a series on this topic. It introduces foundational insights into the origins of stress, its reasons for being there, its causes, and the symptoms stress creates in the mind, body, and emotions. From the physiological responses within our bodies to the cascading effects on our cognitive functions and emotional well-being, you'll get a new perspective on the stress response overall. This course will reintroduce you to your power: attention, which can help you intentionally select the most effective approach to releasing the stress immediately. You'll be introduced to the strategy of mindfully choosing tools, tailored to your unique experience, to address stress from physical, mental, and emotional perspectives.

Unpacking Stress
In this lesson, we'll discover that stress is a symptom of a fearful response to an event or a thought, which triggers physical, emotional, and mental responses. We will trace the origin of the stress response, in order to understand its purpose, and what happens when the stress response gets stuck "on" instead of resolving on its own.

The Physical, Emotional, and Mental Impacts of Stress
In this lesson, we'll discuss the ways in which stress affects our body's systems, our emotions, and refocuses our mental processes for the sake of survival. Understanding the ways in which stress is designed to help us, and how it impacts our functioning can then empower us to mindfully choose stress-relieving tools that work on each specific aspect - physical, emotional and mental.

The Power of Attention and Choice Over Stress
In this lesson, you'll be introduced to the concept that just as the stress response engages your attention, so can you deliberately control where your attention goes. Understanding that you have the power to focus your attention on tools that will disengage the stress response means that you can choose which tools will be the most effective on the stress that you are experiencing. A brief example of each is included, with future courses in this series dedicated to specific tools for reversing the stress response to a variety of experiences.

Very good and useful short series of talks. Beneficial for all to listen to to understand themselves and others better too, to lead a healthier happier life. However most people don’t seem to want to know or think they know or forget to. There’s a lot of basic information here to open your mind and heart to. Thank you 🙏🏼

I liked that the sessions were shirt so I could take in all the information. Great introductory course that clearly described the stress response and offers hope that we can all help ourselves calm our stress responses.
