If you’re looking to lift your spirit, release what’s stuck and remember allll the light inside you, this course is for you! In Dance to Release, Reconnect and ReJOY, we’ll explore this profoundly transformative tool and start to reclaim it.
Dance is one of the most powerful mood boosters on the planet. It releases tension; re-enlivens body, mind and soul; and helps us reconnect with our brightest, truest selves. And we've largely forgotten that this practice is available to anyone, anywhere—not just those with specific training or a certain body type or ability. It's something humans just DID for millennia in cultures all around the globe. Something young children do unprompted, reminding us of our hard-wiring.
In this 3-day course, we'll embrace and explore dance and its transformational power. Each day features a 10-ish-minute practice exploring dance from a slightly different angle. I'll share loose movement cues that you can follow, or you're free to move in whatever way feels best!
We'll begin slowly by building body awareness, gaining comfort taking up space, and honing our ability to listen to our bodies and souls and how they might enjoy expressing themselves. In subsequent practices, we’ll use dance as a tool to release, to reconnect with our brightest, most confident selves, and to play and remember our joy.
As long we're moving in a safe way and listening to our bodies, there's no right or wrong here, no judgment, no should's or shouldn't's... Just freedom and fun, and an opportunity to really make dance your own.
Jenny Mayo shares practices that help busy, overstressed people rediscover their inner peace and joy—practices that have been critical to her own healing journey from immense grief, anxiety and overwhelm. And while grounding practices like meditation and restorative yoga have been critical in this healing and maintaining her steady foundation, she didn't remember her brightest light and joy again until she rediscovered and reclaimed dance...just for her. With no right's, no wrongs, no choreography, no judgment. Just free space to let her body and soul speak.
Her calling is now to share this practice with others so that they, too, can feel and shine brighter.
Jenny has been dancing nearly her whole life and has taught movement for more than two decades. She completed 200-hour meditation teacher training with celebrated LA-based studio Unplug Meditation, 200-hour vinyasa teacher training at Bhakti Yoga DC, 65-hour restorative yoga teacher training with celebrated expert Jillian Pranksy, and Reiki Levels I and II with Jessica Mahler. She's currently pursuing her 300-hour yoga teacher training at the Kripalu Center in Western Massachusetts, where free-flowing celebratory dance is a daily community practice and longstanding tradition!...

Getting In Your Body, Taking Up Space
In our first lesson, we'll land back in the body, letting it start to move however it most wants to move. We'll also explore what it feels like to take up space, giving ourselves permission to be more fully ourselves. We'll begin with a short warmup.

Releasing What You Don't Need
Today's practice shares powerful tools to help release tension of body and mind. We'll dance, shake it out, and allow ourselves to reeeaaaaaally exhale what's weighing us down (including with some optional Woodchopper's Breaths!).

Shining Your Light, Rediscovering Your Joy!
Let's remember our brightest, most confident selves! In our final practice, we'll explore dance as a tool to help us live a little louder and bolder and recover our joy and sense of play. I strongly recommend using props for this one: colorful scarves you can wave, small instruments (tambourine, whistle, castinets, etc.), fun costumes...anything that could help you welcome your inner child out to play!
