Les 1
Patience In Pregnancy
Before we begin with breath, it is important to honour where you are, at this moment of pregnancy. In this lesson, you will learn a grounding technique designed to bring awareness to the present moment, and establish a deeper connection with your baby. You will also learn about the latter stages of pregnancy, what to expect as labour approaches and how to bring present moment awareness to this time.
Les 2
Preparing Your Birth Environment
This lesson introduces us to a fundamental cornerstone of hypnobirth. Today, we will discuss and plan out what your ideal birth environment looks like. From lighting to soundscapes and even scents that trigger the release of oxytocin, we will appeal to each of the senses and design a beautiful environment for your birth.
Les 3
Alternate Nostril Breathing
In today's lesson we learn the technique and benefits of alternate nostril breathing. By focusing on the air coming in and going out, the left and the right, we balance energy and tap into the prefrontal cortex of the brain; the happiness centre. Why is this important during the early stages of labour? It inspires the release of oxytocin, the labour hormone, and allows your body to establish a positive and productive labour pattern.
Les 4
The Wave Breath
Active labour is described as a period of time wherein contractions come one after another, sometimes feeling like they are coming on top of one another. It can be difficult, but you are strong and you are capable. In this lesson, we will harness the power of the wave breath; a traditional hypnobirth breathing technique that uses the visualization of a wave to slow your heart rate, calm your emotions and ground you into the present moment.
Les 5
Pranayama For Transition
Ujjayi breathing, the warrior breath, harnesses the power, confidence and inner fire needed to get you through the most difficult stage of labour; transition. During this final phase of labour, you may start doubting yourself. You may feel like you cannot possibly go any further, that your energy is maxed out, and that you you don't have the strength to continue. Ujjayi breathing diminishes distractions, retains focus and clears the mind to anchor the soul.
Les 6
Inspiring Rest With A 4:7 Breath
Finding moments of rest and relief during labour may seem a near impossible task. When we elongate the exhale to approximately twice as long as the inhale, we can enter into a state of self hypnosis, which has incredible restful benefits during labour. In this lesson, we will learn and practice the 4:7 Breath technique, enter into hypnosis and use mantra to tranquilize the central nervous system and sink into beautiful restful moments.
Les 7
Connecting With Your Baby
In this lesson, we will seek to deepen the connection to baby through meditation and visualization. We will incorporate elements of breath techniques that we have learned over the past several days, combined with guided meditation, positive affirmations and the aspect of drawing inward, to deepen the connection with baby and prepare you for birth.
Les 8
Visualizing Your Birth
After tapping into your breath, connecting with baby, and creating the perfect soundscape, what do you visualize for your birth? In this lesson, we will not only visualize your ideal birth experience, but we will also talk about some of the options available to you for labour and birth. Birth is such an intimate experience. This lesson will honour the voice within and tap into your visualization for birth.
Les 9
Partner Assists And Support
Are you wondering how to incorporate your partner into breath work for birth? In this lesson, you will learn how your partner can physically assist you in each of the different breath practices you have learned, and the different layers of emotional support that they can give depending on the breath practice that resonates with you.
Les 10
Surrendering To Birth
The moment you've been waiting for. The moment of birth that you have spent the past 9 days learning about, digging into, visualizing and preparing for. This is the lesson where you soften, open and release. Where you give in completely to the process of birth and where you surrender. This is the lesson where you implement all that you've learned, all that resonates with you, and all the tools that will lead you to the moment of birth.
