Please find a comfortable position,
Sitting or lying down.
And when you are comfortable,
Please close your eyes gently.
Take a deep breath in.
And slowly exhale.
Again,
Inhale.
And exhale.
I'd like you to bring your attention to the space around you.
Not the space inside your body,
But the space beyond your skin.
I'd like you to try and feel the air moving past you,
Or maybe the temperature of the room,
Or maybe you can hear the quiet hum.
Anything you cannot see.
Just as you begin to notice these things.
I'd like you to try and imagine that you're not just a person sitting here,
But a leaf resting on the surface of a great river.
And the river is life itself,
Always moving and always changing,
And always flowing towards something greater than itself.
You're not the river,
But you are a part of it.
And you do not need to make the river move.
You don't need to steer it.
You only need to trust that it knows where it's going.
I'd like you to try and feel the current beneath you.
Is it steady?
Is it strong?
Is it relaxed and not forceful?
Really try and feel that current.
Notice how this current carries you without demanding anything in return.
I'd like you to recognize that this is the way of life.
It does not ask you to control it and it only asks you to trust it.
And as you begin to let go.
And allow this trust in,
You may begin to notice an urge to resist it,
To grip the leaf tighter and to try to change the direction of the river.
But the river doesn't need any resistance because it flows on regardless.
So you can soften your grip and let the current hold you for a moment.
Slowly drift in this trust.
You are safe.
You begin to notice that the river is carrying you towards a little cove,
A hidden cove,
A place where the water is still and where the light filters through the trees.
Once again you may begin to feel a little resistance.
But once again,
Try and turn that resistance into acceptance and trust.
Really let go of the need to control.
Because you are entirely safe in this moment.
The river isn't rushing you towards this cove.
We're just slowly drifting into the still waters.
As the river gently pushes you towards the shore within the cove.
You trust the river enough to let it allow you land softly on the firm ground beneath you.
This is your day waiting for you.
You trusted that the river took you to where you need to go right now.
And know that that current is always within you.
As you step up onto this firm ground and tackle the rest of your day.
Know that by trusting and letting go.
.
.
And allowing.
Your day will naturally open up.
You'll notice that it will be more steady and sure and that trust will carry you home whenever you feel a little lost.
So remember to return to this place of letting go whenever you need to.
And trust that by doing this you have already allowed your day to begin.
To flow gently and nourishingly.
Have a gentle day.
