Welcome to Superhero Stories.

I am your host,

Captain EJ.

Today,

We'll be exploring the world of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

All you have to do is close your eyes,

Get cozy,

And listen to the sound of my voice.

Captain EJ will lead the way.

EJ.

Let's begin.

It's another rainy evening in New York City.

You walk carefully through an alleyway,

Trying not to get more wet.

But your shoes and socks are already soaked.

Cold rain seeps into your clothes.

How are you going to get home in this downpour?

You take a slow,

Deep breath in through your nose and out through your mouth.

Then you see something strange.

Are those walking,

Talking turtles?

You're so shocked that you run through the rain to get a better look.

You don't even care that you're getting totally drenched.

Hearing your shoes squeak against the sidewalk,

The four turtles turn to look at you.

The turtles are wearing eye masks,

Gloves,

And boots.

They kind of remind you of ninjas.

Well,

Hey,

The turtle with the blue bandana says cheerfully.

What are you doing out in the rain?

Your jaw drops.

You can hardly believe your eyes.

Haven't you seen a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle before?

Scoffs the turtle wearing an orange eye mask and knee pads.

When you slowly shake your head in disbelief,

The group of turtles bursts into laughter.

I'm Donatello,

Says the turtle wearing purple.

He points at the turtle wearing red and says that's Raphael,

And blue over there is Leonardo,

And orange is Michelangelo.

Donatello,

Raphael,

Leonardo,

And Michelangelo.

These are certainly some interesting new friends you've stumbled across.

Raphael lumbers closer.

You gulp,

Staring up at the muscly turtle.

He's big,

Brawny,

And very tall.

He looks over at you and then flashes a toothy grin that makes you smile back.

You know what?

I like you,

Raphael announces.

As the biggest big brother,

I say we take this one to our lair.

I bet Splinter would like to meet them.

Splinter?

That sounds pretty fascinating,

To see the inside of their lair.

Raph is right,

Donatello says.

He claps you on the back.

He's so strong that your knees buckle just a bit.

How about it?

We have an awesome underground lair.

We've got a turtle tank garage,

An arcade,

And even a comic book vault.

Michelangelo playfully pushes Donatello's shoulder.

Donnie,

Don't go telling just anyone about our comic book vault.

Michelangelo looks back at you with a smile.

This isn't just anyone.

We can trust them.

I know it.

Well,

Are you in or out?

Hmm.

You pause to think for a moment.

When else are you going to have a chance to hang out with teenage mutant ninja turtles?

You're in.

Our lair entrance is right over here,

Explains Leonardo.

He gestures at the rainy New York street,

But you don't see any kind of door or open building.

Raphael laughs.

You've got to look a little closer,

My friend.

Watch this.

Raphael bends down and grabs a sewer plate.

In one smooth motion,

He pops it right up off the ground.

Wait,

The ninja turtles want you to go into a stinky,

Smelly sewer?

Before you can change your mind,

Donatello grabs your arm and leaps down into the sewer.

Wind rushes past your face as you sail straight down into the dark sewer.

Cowabunga,

Shouts Raphael.

Moments later,

You land on a wooden platform.

To your surprise,

It isn't stinky down here,

And it definitely doesn't look like any sewer you've seen.

The ninja turtles have a massive underground lair with all kinds of cool-looking rooms and flashing lights.

They're living life underground.

Welcome to our lair,

Says Michelangelo proudly.

Isn't it awesome?

When you nod eagerly,

Raphael shouts,

Splinter,

Come say hi!

We brought someone to train with you!

From the shadows,

A creature slowly emerges.

You rub your eyes,

Taking in the sight of an old mutant rat.

Is this old rat really supposed to train you?

Hmm,

Says Splinter.

He walks around you in a slow circle and then nods.

Yes,

I see why you have brought this new friend here.

I sense power hiding within them.

Told you guys that Splinter would be happy,

Smirks Raphael.

Have you ever trained in ninjutsu before?

Splinter asks you.

When you shake your head,

The mutant rat rubs his palms together.

Then this is going to be fun.

Watch and learn.

Let us test your potential.

Before your eyes,

Splinter springs into action.

He leaps high into the air with ease,

Doing multiple flips before landing behind you.

You spin around,

But Splinter is already moving again.

He might look old,

But he's super nimble.

Splinter leaps in circles around you,

Moving so fast that your gaze can't even keep up.

Defend yourself,

He shouts.

You're a bit disoriented,

Just trying to keep up.

Splinter lands in front of you,

Releasing a flurry of carefully planned punches.

You quickly raise your arms,

Managing to fend off a few of the blows.

The others knock you back a few steps,

But you right yourself quickly.

Splinter laughs.

You are quite talented.

Now take this.

We'll see how gifted you truly are.

You bend your knees,

Bracing yourself for whatever this masterful rat-sensei has in store for you next.

Lights off jutsu,

He shouts before clapping his hands.

The entire room goes dark.

You can't see a thing except for the faint glow of Donnie's ninja turtle goggles.

Your heart thunders in your chest.

You hold your breath,

Listening for any sign of Splinter.

Suddenly,

You hear a rush of wind to your side.

You spin on your heel and kick one leg into the air.

Whack!

Your shin collides with Splinter's.

As the lights click back on one by one,

Splinter does a powerful backflip and lands on the platform.

He claps his hands together again and grins at you.

You have a wonderful natural ability in ninjutsu.

I am quite proud of how well you managed to keep up with me,

He says.

You take a slow,

Deep breath in through your nose and out through your mouth.

Nearby,

The four teenage turtles clap.

That was awesome,

Raphael cheers.

Donatello and Leonardo both nod and jump up and down.

That tired me out just watching it.

I don't think we ever train that hard,

Laughs Michelangelo.

Training hard is right.

You're out of breath and your muscles are exhausted and your body is a little sore.

You could really go for a nap right now.

Or maybe some pizza.

The Ninja Turtles loves pizza.

As if reading your mind,

Raphael rubs his turtle tummy.

We should celebrate this successful training session with some extra,

Extra,

Extra cheesy pizza.

Again,

The Ninja Turtles cheer.

Together,

You,

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Splinter head toward the kitchen.

You can't wait for your next training session with Splinter or to get your hands on some of this yummy food.
