I used to think ignorance meant. Not knowing enough. Now I know it differently. Ignorance is when fear grabs the pen. Writes the ending. And calls it truth. That is the fog. So before the mind. Runs away with this. Come back to the ground. Your feet. Feel. Your hands. Unclench the jaw. Drop the shoulders one inch. Breath feels safe. Take one slow breath in for four. Let it leave slowly. Free. And if breath is not the door today. For one sound. Outside the room. That counts too. This is chain one. Avisa. Ignorance. Stupidity. Not weakness. Awesome. Character flaw. Ignorance. Means. The mind is looking through fog. And forgetting it. Is fog. I know their fault. I know what it feels like. Wake up in a small camper. In a small Wisconsin town. After the life. You knew cracked open. Cold morning. Small floor. Quiet form. No job call yet. No apartment call yet. Clear Map. No easy answer. No instructions for how man rebuilds at this age. With children he loves. And a future. That stopped answering on time. That is when the old mind dies. Walks in. Not soft. Not patience. Walks in. Like a prosecutor. You lost too much. You are too far behind. You might not be there for your kids. You might not find work. You might not find a home. Look at you. This is the verdict. That is not the Dharma talking. That is fear wearing my voice. That is ignorance. With a familiar face. The fog never says. Afraid. It says. I know. The fog never says. This moment hurts. It says. Your whole life is ruined. The fog never says. The future. Is uncertain. It's us. Nothing good is coming. That is how suffering starts building a house. Inside the chest. One thought becomes a sentence. One feeling. Becomes a fact. One hard season. Becomes an identity. Of practice. Gives me one line strong enough. To stand on. I do not know the ending. That is not denial. That is clear. See. The Buddha did not teach me to pretend pain is not here. He taught me to see what is here. Without building a whole prison around it. So I separate fact from fog. Fact. I am in a heart. Season. Fog. I will never repeal. Fact. The phone. Has not run yet. Fog. Nobody. Will ever call. Fact. I miss my children. I worry about. Being there. I have already failed. As a father. Feel that. The fact may break you. Your heart. But the fog adds forever. Faxes. This is hard. The fox says. This is who you are now. And that is the lie. I refuse to bow to. So here. Is the practice. Pause. Before the verdict. Find One Place. Where your body is touching the world. Then ask yourself this. What is fear? Pretending to know right now. Ask it slow. NOT. What hurts. Not. What is real. Not what needs your attention. Ask what fear is pretending to know. Tell the truth without the prophecy. This is hard. This is painful. This is uncertain. But this is not the whole truth. The old mind. Is not my enemy. It is old. Survival. Intelligence. Still. Carry old weapons. I can respect what protected me. Without letting it. Run my life. That is the work. See the fog. Do not worship it. Hear the fear. Do not obey it. Like God. The fog may speak first. It does not get the last word. The future has not arrived. Stay here. Breathe here. From here. Because when the fog is not seen He starts carving grooves in the mind. Those grooves. Become chained to. Sankara. Formations. The groove. For today. Remember. This. The fog can topple out. But it is not. Fear rotovert. I am still breathing. Still standing. Still. Building. Stillness. Is rebellion. Compassion. Is a weapon. Peace. Is within. Carry on.
