Hi,
I'm Miriam Amavi and we're going to do a quick little somatic release for when you feel nervous or even anxious.
And in these moments,
It doesn't really help ourselves to tell ourselves to calm down because our nervous system senses some sort of threat.
It doesn't really matter what the threat is,
But if we don't work with our nervous system,
If we don't show our body that we're safe,
If you don't give that nervous energy an outlet,
We will feel even more nervous and the situation will feel even more unbearable.
So find yourself a comfortable place where you can sit or even get up and we're just gonna start with patting down the body.
You can just pat down anywhere you like.
You can get up and do the standing.
You can also do the sitting down and just really be present with that patting down your body.
You can notice if your body likes the patting a little stronger or a little softer and you can just take all your limbs and your belly and your back and just pat them down and just let all that nervousness,
All that mobilized energy kind of give it a place.
To go and then you can start shaking if that feels good you can even get up and you know do intuitive movements and just shake and bounce and jump and maybe make noises just let it out and just be weird and just let yourself just be an animal letting go of all that nervous energy jumping and shaking everything in your body until you feel some sort of release or if you feel kind of getting you know you're getting tired or It just feels like you're kind of mobilizing something through.
And in your own time,
You can see.
Whether the shaking and the jumping and the noises want to kind of like fade out a little bit,
You don't have to come to quiet immediately,
Just You know,
Let your body move how it wants to move.
Maybe there are some stretches that want to happen,
Some intuitive movement.
And in your own time you can see if you want to come to A little more stillness and just notice in your body maybe there is some tingling going on.
Maybe you can still feel that movement.
And allow yourself to feel nervous.
It just means you're alive.
It means.
.
.
Your body is doing what it's supposed to do.
It's giving you energy.
It's giving you focus.
And I know it can sometimes feel really hard and really annoying.
But in this practice we're trying to support our nervous system and let all that excess energy out so we just have that important energy that we need left and if you like you can take a pillow You don't need a pillow for this,
You can just hug yourself if that feels better.
And just hug that pillow if you have one.
Just feel how that pillow presses against you if you can lean into like your couch or something and feel how you're kind of sandwiched between your couch or your bed and your pillow that you're holding If you like,
You can even do some gentle rocking or some gentle stroking over the arms in this havening motion.
Just allow yourself to arrive here,
Feel the surface beneath you.
You don't have to close your eyes,
You can leave them open and just gently let them wander around in the room,
Finding some sort of shape or color.
Your eyes like to look at.
And allow yourself to feel like this.
There's nothing wrong with you.
If there want to be some deeper breaths coming through,
Allow that.
If not,
That's okay too.
If you want to sigh or yawn or swallow,
These are great signs that your nervous system is releasing that sort of stress.
And if you want to continue to be here,
You can just hold yourself here,
Maybe put on some calming music.
If you like to shake it out a little more,
You can continue doing that.
And if you like to go deeper into your nervous system healing journey,
I invite you to check out my course,
Somatic Exercises to Soothe Your Nervous System and all my other practices on my InsideTimer channel.
And you've got this.
See you next time.
Bye.
