In this guided meditation, you will have the opportunity to do some dreamwork by re-entering your dream and embodying a dream element, noticing and receiving any shifts in the felt sense or insights that come from this experience. If you don't have a dream that you remember, you can use a dream fragment, such as a single image from a dream, or you can invite a daydream image to arise in the moment. This practice is best suited for dreams that are mild to moderate in intensity.

Begin by getting comfortable.

You can do this practice seated or lying down,

Whichever is best for you.

And take a moment now to feel your feet on the ground or wherever they are.

And the chair underneath you or the ground underneath you.

And to prepare to let your attention move inwards.

In this practice,

We will be re-entering a dream.

This can be a full dream or an image or a short snippet of a dream.

And if you don't have a dream that you remember,

You can also invite an image to come freshly in this moment.

So as you let your attention move through the inside of your body,

Noticing what's here.

You might notice any thoughts or feelings that have come up around working with a dream or about something that's happened earlier today or might be coming up.

And if there are any of these things here that feel like they might be a distraction,

You can acknowledge them and ask them to sit on the side or maybe be tidied away into a drawer just during the duration of this practice,

Knowing that you can come back to them at another time.

And when you've cleared a bit of space,

You can invite in your dream or the image from your dream.

Re-entering the dream and noticing as much detail as possible,

As if you are back in the dream in this moment.

You may also invite an image to arise in this moment,

In something that comes freshly in right now,

Maybe something from nature.

You can take your time allowing this image or the dream to develop,

To show up more and more fully,

Noticing as many details about what it looks like and how it feels to be here with this image.

And if there's anything that stands out to you about this dream image,

Something that has some extra energy to it,

Something that feels fascinating,

Something that has a lot of aliveness,

Something that's beautiful,

You might try embodying this part of the image,

Allowing yourself to feel what it would feel like to be this part of the dream,

To move in this way,

To have this shape or these qualities.

And take a moment to notice what it feels like in your body right now,

As you connect with this part of the dream.

Is there a feeling that comes with that?

Is there a feeling that comes with this?

And where do you notice that feeling?

Is there a word that captures the quality of that feeling?

And if you find a word that feels like it might capture some of that quality,

You can check and see,

Is that right?

And listen for a response or feel for a response that says,

Yes,

That's the right word.

Or maybe it's not the right word and you check for another one and try again.

Notice if there's anything about this quality that feels different,

That feels like might be a resource.

That you could bring with you from the dream back into your daily life.

And now preparing to change perspective,

To leave the perspective of this element and to move back into your original perspective as the dreamer.

Noticing if there's any ways that the dream feels different now.

That you've connected with the quality or the felt sense of embodying that dream element.

And is there anything else that wants to happen in the dream?

Anything that may want to move forwards differently now that you've had an experience of embodying that element?

And if there is,

You can allow that to unfold.

Allowing the dream to dream itself forward given this new felt sense.

And noticing again what it feels like in this moment to be here in the dream as it is moving forwards in this new way.

And now preparing to take our leave of the dream.

Knowing that you can come back at any time.

And turning your attention to your physical body here,

Your fingers and toes,

Your back against the chair or the floor,

Your breath moving in and out of your body.

And slowly bringing your attention back to the room around you and yourself here in this time and this place.

This practice is now complete.
