The face can tell a thousand stories.
It can express emotions like the innocence of a child,
The wisdom of an older face.
It can project strengths,
Weaknesses,
Suffering.
In my line of work I see a variety of faces showing disappointments,
Grief,
Amazement,
Happiness,
Joy,
Faces full of love,
Hope,
Loneliness,
Anger and so on.
And faces can also project ill health like pain,
Dull skin,
Loss of weight.
So incredible how a human face can reflect the inner state and also manifest inner beauty.
Something we take for granted too often perhaps.
I'm going to share a story.
I was having coffee with a dear friend in a time where life was fairly challenging for me but didn't want to burden her with my stories as I was so joyful to see her and treasured to make the most of our time together.
During our conversation she looked at me in such a concerned manner,
Took my hand and said my dear you look in so much pain are you okay?
Of course I am I replied.
I wasn't even aware of what my face was expressing.
I thought I was merely talking about stuff but it was apparent that my unhappiness really showed.
In this instance my mind was purposely changing the truth via talking.
Having any challenges I was experiencing however subconsciously it showed my friend the adversities I was experiencing via my face muscles.
These are such a key point to communication both verbal and non-verbal.
People that lose their sight often comment on how difficult they find not being able to see others expressions.
The Japanese say people have three faces.
The first face we show to the world.
The second face we show to family and friends.
And the third face the one that is never shared with anyone but to ourselves is our truest reflection.
So let me share this poem to reflect on what I just mentioned.
As she went by her day she showed rays of happiness light and inspiration to others.
As she stood by her family she showed compassion kindness and love.
As she spent time alone she showed tears and sorrow.
So as you go by your day be your own artist by reflecting your soul in your facial expressions and aim to harmonize your inner with the outer you to create balance calm and peace.
Be proud of who you are and show the world your true soul's essence with our filtered expression.
