We are going to practice I Am Calm.

Sit up straight and comfortably in your chair.

Rest your hands in your lap.

Close your eyes.

Feel your feet flat on the floor.

Relax your shoulders back and down.

Let your whole body be still.

Breathe normally and relax.

As you breathe in through your nose,

Notice the feeling of the air moving in.

As you breathe out through your nose,

Notice the feeling of the air moving out.

Now as you feel the air moving in through your nose,

Silently repeat the word I.

As you feel the air moving out through your nose,

Silently repeat the words Am Calm.

Breathe in and silently repeat I.

Breathe out and silently repeat Am Calm.

Continue I Am Calm on your own.

As you feel the air moving out through your nose,

Silently repeat the words I.

As you feel the air moving out through your nose,

Silently repeat the words I.

As you feel the air moving out through your nose,

Silently repeat the words I.

Now take a deep breath in,

Hold,

Exhale slowly.

Notice how you feel.

Open your eyes.

Notice how you feel.

Slowly open your eyes.

This is a great introduction to meditative breathing - short and straight forward enough that it won't intimidate newcomers. I'd recommend it for DBT usage, and beginning meditators of all sorts!
