Metta meditation, also known as loving-kindness meditation, focuses on cultivating love, compassion, and feelings of well-being for oneself and others. Buddha originally taught this kind of meditation over 2600 years ago, and Buddhists still practice it to this day. Since metta meditation involves reciting kind phrases toward yourself, it can foster a sense of self-compassion. The idea is that you must love yourself before you can love other people. Self-compassion can also reduce negative emotions toward yourself, including: unworthiness, self-doubt, judgement and anxiety “May I be safe, peaceful, and free of suffering.” “May I be happy. May I be healthy.” “May you be strong and confident.” We will practice as a guided meditation, just get comfortable and connect to your breath, you can do this anytime, in a safe space in a relaxed position.
