Getting Small
This meditation is a visual journey inward based on the first Hermetic Principle; all things arise from mind. We will journey together as we ponder the not so frequently asked question, what am I? This meditation will help the practitioner reach deeper levels of physical relaxation while expanding their connection to even deeper realms of consciousness. This meditation is best for experienced individuals and contains alpha frequency background noise for quality concentration levels.
Transcript
The first Traumatic Principle states,
All things arise from mind.
Please make yourself comfortable.
Take whatever position is best for you,
Just make sure your back is as straight as possible and you can breathe freely and easily.
There will be pauses during the meditation,
Hopefully these pauses can lead you to even deeper levels of relaxation.
The background tone is an alpha wave frequency which will help you maintain the concentration necessary for this visualization journey.
Please take a moment to settle into your best position.
While you are doing so,
Take a few deep cleansing breaths.
Breathe in deep and breathe out deep,
Imagining power in and stale dark air out.
Do this as you are settling in,
Get out some energy,
Settle into your best position.
Now relax even more,
Imagining that your body is liquid and your mind is what is holding it in its shape.
Roll your eyes up gently as if you were trying to see your eyebrows or the corner of the ceiling.
Do this for a few seconds,
Gently looking upwards,
Breathing regularly through your nose.
Now slowly close and relax your eyes.
Now breathe in slowly through your nose,
Slowly,
Slowly inflating your belly.
Now breathe out through your nose,
Collapsing your belly,
Relaxing as the air flows out.
Now breathe in with your nose slowly,
Expanding your belly,
Expanded,
Expanded,
Hold.
Now breathe out,
Collapsing your belly,
Collapsing with every bit of air,
Tension goes out as well.
Slowly again in through your nose,
Slowly,
Slowly expanding your belly.
Now hold,
And as you hold,
Tighten the muscles at the base of your spine and your pelvis.
Hold,
Now exhale,
Gently letting out your breath as you relax your pelvic muscles.
Let's do that one more time.
Slowly in through your nose,
Slowly expanding your belly,
Hold,
Now tighten the muscles at the base of your spine and the base of your pelvis.
Tighten,
Hold,
Now breathe out slowly and gently.
Imagine yourself on a windy northern beach.
Low breakers are before you,
Rolling and crashing in the distance.
It's late afternoon,
But the sky is so gray that you can't really tell where the sun is.
Cloud banks are building out on the horizon,
And you see lightning flash far out the sea.
As the thunder rolls across the water,
You feel it vibrate in the pebbles beneath your feet.
A heavy wool cloak flaps in the wind,
And you pull it a little closer around you,
Its soft fibers tickling your chin and your throat.
The beach is covered in smooth,
Shiny,
Round black pebbles,
And your feet are bare.
If you listen carefully,
You can hear the water running through the pebbles deep beneath your feet.
You feel each individual rock under your toes.
You look ahead towards the breakers.
There's a large cushion set out on a low wooden platform.
It is covered with sheepskins.
Walk to it,
Feeling the cold pebbles push against your toes.
Be sure and hold your cloak up to keep it dry.
You step onto the cushion,
Dig your cold,
Damp feet down into the warm sheepskins,
And then settle onto the cushion as to sit for any meditation.
Now look out at the breakers.
See the lightning on the horizon.
When we sit with ourselves,
We often say,
Who am I?
Who am I?
But is this really the right question?
I'm not even sure what I am.
I'm not even sure where I am.
What am I?
What makes me,
Me?
What makes you,
You?
Are you your name,
Your personality,
Your memories,
The things you own,
The things you have accomplished?
Are you the thoughts of you and other people's memories?
Are you a program?
What are you?
You are some amazing thing all wrapped up in this skin shell.
What constitutes a you?
Where does a you even begin?
Where do you really end?
Now we're going to an even lower level of relaxation.
Relax the fascia of your body as completely as possible.
Think about relaxing the tiny muscles that surround every hair follicle on your body.
Relax the tiny muscles around your ears.
Relax the ligaments between your vertebra.
Relax your jaw where it connects to your skull.
Make the joints soft and gentle.
Relax the ligaments that hold your teeth in place.
They are as tiny as hairs.
Relax your tongue.
Let it slide into the bottom of your mouth.
Relax the muscles around your mouth.
Relax the surface of your chest.
Relax your fingers.
Relax the entire surface of your skin.
Surround your skin with your mind.
Feel all this contours move into every pore.
Begin to know this boundary surrounding you,
Your skin.
Now become the skin.
Place all of your awareness in this boundary between what you perceive to be your body and what is not considered your body.
Activate your skin interface fully.
Feel the temperature of the surrounding area.
Feel the air currents.
Feel where your clothing touches your skin.
Feel areas of pressure.
Allow the lining of your nose to give you humidity readings as the air flows against this delicate skin lining.
You will notice a slight vibration surrounds you and runs across the entire outer surface.
Feel this energy current in your skin.
Use your awareness to examine this thing that you believe separates you from the rest of reality.
Explore your total exterior skin covering.
Be aware of every cell.
Spend a short time bringing your full awareness into your skin.
Become acutely aware of where you perceive your body to stop and the surrounding world to begin.
Make this boundary glow with a golden light.
Move slowly from your crown to your toes,
Covering yourself in a golden shell.
Make this real,
See it in your mind's eye.
Now you have created a shell of thought,
A thought form around the dynamic energy field that limits your avatar's physical dimensions at this level.
This is presently your largest field of cohesive conscious control of dense matter.
You call it your body.
So are you a body?
Now begin to contract your golden glow of awareness inward,
Away from your skin.
Draw it in.
Pull it in like a breath.
Pull it in until it reaches your heart.
Now see your awareness as a golden light encircling your heart.
Spend a short time bringing your full awareness into this golden glow around your heart.
This new boundary defines where your heart begins and the rest of your body stops.
Enter your heart.
Focus your awareness there.
Be aware of the strong muscular surface of your heart.
Sweep your awareness around your heart.
Feel its shape marvel at its power.
Stand in its rhythm and tingle as blue electric pulses race across its surface.
Your new boundary is the walls of your heart.
Feel the ridged surfaces of the ventricles.
Feel the blood rushing past you.
Blood cells tumble and bump against you.
And all the while the thump,
Thump,
Thump of the heart's frequency fills your awareness.
So are you a heart?
Contract your golden glow even more.
Pull it inwards,
Away from your heart surface.
Contract it until you are only one of the single blood cells flowing through your heart.
See your awareness as a golden glow encircling the cell.
Spend a short time bringing your full awareness into this single cell.
Become acutely aware of where you perceive your cells boundary to stop and the rest of your body begins.
You are tumbling through the blood,
Rolling and bumping against other cells.
This is your new boundary.
You are now a cell coursing through a river of blood.
Your outer shell is tossed about and you become aware of the inside of your cell where so much is going on.
Tiny machine like bodies move things about.
You realize they're oxygen molecules.
Long tube like structures wrap around the oxygen molecules,
Holding them like serpents swallowing eggs.
In the distance the nucleus looms like a dark planet moving slowly through the sky.
Within it the chromosomes are visible and they look like koi swimming in a milky sea.
While all around you mitochondrial bodies are arcing with energy as they power the cell,
They move like glowing zeppelins in a shimmering sky.
So are you a cell?
Contract your golden glow of awareness inward.
Pull it away from the cell surface.
Draw it in.
Contract it like a breath until you reach the DNA that you can see coiled in the chromosomes of your nucleus.
See your awareness as a golden glow encircling one of your DNA molecules.
Spend a short time bringing your full awareness into your DNA molecule.
Become acutely aware of where you perceive your new boundary to stop and the rest of your body begins.
You are now a molecule made of connected nucleotides forming a spiral ladder structure.
Four different nucleotides are bonded to one another opposite each other on a ladder by shimmering bonds that look like waves of heat.
A blue glow races across the surface of the molecule.
The spiral sways and undulates like a sleeping serpent.
At this level there is so much activity that it seems like everything is visibly vibrating.
The emanation of life is so close here you feel it.
This living ladder is the information by which you were constructed.
It's your source code written in matter.
Your IP address in the cosmos.
So were you a DNA molecule?
Contract your golden glow of awareness inward even more away from the surface of your DNA.
Draw it in,
Contract it until you are only a single hydrogen atom in one of the thiamine nucleotides,
One of the rungs of the ladder.
See your awareness as a golden glow encircling your atom.
Spend a short time bringing your full awareness into the atom.
Become acutely aware of where you perceive your atoms boundary to stop and the rest of your body begin.
You are a hydrogen atom in your thiamine nucleotide.
The golden glow of your awareness now surrounds your atomic body.
You feel the presence of a center,
A great power,
But you also feel an ever changing cloud of energy oscillating around you.
You were in two places at one time.
The vibration,
The hum you had begun to notice before is now omnipresent and you feel more like movement than matter.
Ah,
But the pull of matter is still there.
Your color cascades into infinite patterns.
It is if your body is made of music.
You feel that your atoms heart power so profound.
You think it might be God and yet you sense that there is even more,
So much more beyond this inner sun.
Now you see even smaller particles.
Some look like the absence of a particle while others blink in and out of existence.
Some appear when you observe them and others are like twinkling stars when you look away.
Now you face the nucleus.
It pulsates with power.
It draws you closer.
So are you an atom?
Now contract your golden glow of awareness inward again,
Away from your atoms boundary.
Draw it in like a breath.
Contract it until you are only a proton.
See your awareness as a golden glow encircling your proton.
Spend a time bringing your full awareness into the proton.
Become acutely aware of where you perceive your proton's boundary to stop and the rest of your body to begin.
Three points of energy spin around you.
These are the quarks.
They are the boundary between matter and not matter,
Reality and non-reality.
They hold up the veil of ISIS.
One becomes two.
Two become three.
And from three,
All things come.
So are you a proton?
Up to this point,
You have been in relatively familiar territory,
A vast territory over which you hold sway.
Where do you go from here?
Beyond lies the quantum sea,
Where matter bubbles up into existence and also flows out of existence.
From here all things arise and disappear.
This is the surface of the ether,
The source of all life,
All consciousness.
Beyond here,
Time and space do not exist.
Yet from here do all things emanate like effervescent bubbles.
So what are you really but foam upon a quantum sea?
Let us sit here for a while by the sea of probability and remember what a long journey we've been on.
We've been a quark inside a proton within our atom,
Inside a molecule of DNA from the blood within your heart,
Within your body.
You moved through them as easily as a snail changing a shell.
You inhabit all of these,
All six octillion atoms of your body.
You are Lord of a universe that contains six times 10 to the 27th more atoms than there are stars in the known universe.
You have over six octillion portals into the pool of infinite energy and knowledge.
You drink from the well of life through every nucleus and every cell.
Indeed you spring directly from this well of life and are in constant contact.
You stand behind the veil and peer through six octillion eyes.
All here is simply a vehicle,
A way for you to come forth from the void.
When the two cells combined that became your avatar,
When two different portals split and recombined,
The new connection was ignited.
The quarks were enchanted by the spark from the ether and they begin their dance to weave matter and the spirit flowed through from the ether and the portals begin to increase exponentially until the pattern was filled.
So I ask again,
What are you?
What are you really?
From here you must create where to go.
From here you can practice eternity.
Come back often and you will find your spirit enriched by every journey and every return.
Dip often below the surface of the ether,
The source of all knowledge,
Love and bliss until you flow back across the boundary.
Free from this connection to swim again in the quantum sea of probability.
Now take a slow deep breath and begin to slowly expand your golden shell.
Fill it up like a balloon expanding from quark to proton.
Envelop the atom,
Expand to surround the molecule.
You are growing now in size and now you're the tumbling cell and now the beating heart.
Take this moment to solidify the glow across your skin.
Hold it in your mind's eye.
Realize how enormous you actually are.
Make this gigantic shell an indestructible barrier that you emit at all times.
See it,
Make it real.
What are you?
You are everything born from nothing.
My love,
There is no word for what you are.
All things arise from mind.
Now slowly open your eyes and imagine your world.
