This is a meditation for those moments we find ourselves spiraling out and in need of a reset.
With your eyes gently closed,
Take a deep breath.
Slow your breath as you're able.
Slowing your exhale in particular,
Knowing this helps engage your body's natural calming system.
Whatever has been swirling within you,
Whether it's fear or despair,
Anger or anxiety,
Or simply feeling stuck,
Distracted or lost,
See your own wonderful humanity in it all.
These aren't feelings to avoid,
Run or hide from,
But we are able to loosen our grip when we find ourselves over identifying with them.
Even when we might not be able to let go of them,
We can practice making peace with them.
We can allow these parts to be present while decoupling them from who we are.
Breathe deeply with awareness.
You are not your feelings,
You are not your thoughts,
You are not your circumstances.
These feelings,
Thoughts and circumstances are simply valuable bits of information.
They are gauges on your dashboard,
But they are not you.
And as you breathe deeply with awareness,
I invite you to place your hands over your chest,
Your heart center,
And sink deeper into your breath.
While it may feel like a storm within you,
There is a calm where the water is cool and gentle,
Where below the surface,
Deeper still,
Lives a glowing warmth within you.
And at your very depths,
There is a you that is infinite and indestructible,
That knows you and is intimate with all of your struggles,
But unswayed by any of it.
There is a you that is boundless and loving and at peace with all things.
Allow this warmth of who you are to flow out and through your body,
To course through your veins,
To fill and flood your whole being.
Allow this warmth to radiate out from the depths of who you are,
As you breathe deeply with awareness.
And as you breathe,
Ask yourself in this moment,
Who do you want to show up as?
Is there a word that the warmth within you is whispering?
It could be that you are loving,
Powerful,
Creative,
Kind,
Open,
Compassionate.
You get to decide in this moment the person you are.
What you do and how you do it,
That will all flow out as you're conscious of who you are.
What's that one aspect of your glorious self that you're being called to radiate right now?
Allow that intention to set.
Now breathing deeply with awareness,
And breathing deeply as you reset who you are and embody your intention.
And when you're ready,
Gently open your eyes and lift your gaze.
And may you return to your precious life with your heart warm and your eyes afresh.
