So often,
Life feels like it's always happening just ahead of us,
As if joy will arrive once things slow down,
Settle,
Or finally make sense.
This practice is a pause from that habit.
A chance to discover what becomes available when you fully enter this moment,
Not perfectly,
Just honestly.
I invite you to find a comfortable position.
Let your body choose ease.
Gently close your eyes or soften your gaze.
And take a slow breath in through your nose.
Feel the chest,
The belly.
Exhale through your mouth.
Let the breath leave you,
Unrushed,
Unhurried.
Again,
Inhale welcoming fresh energy.
Exhale,
Releasing what you don't need to hold.
One more time.
Deep in.
Fully out.
Now let the breath return to its natural rhythm.
No shaping,
No effort.
Bring your attention to where your body meets the surface beneath it.
Notice the quiet conversation of weight and support.
Now gently scan your body from the crown of your head down.
Forehead soft.
Which are unhooked.
Shoulders melting down your back.
Place one hand on your heart.
Feel its steady language.
Place the other on your belly.
Notice how breath moves you from the inside.
Wiggle your fingers.
Just a small reminder that you are here now.
Notice your thighs,
Your calves,
The soles of your feet,
Grounded,
Supported.
Imagine this moment as a room you've just stepped into.
Nothing to rearrange,
Nothing to improve.
Just colors,
Textures,
Temperature.
This is the moment that's holding you.
And silently affirm,
I am allowed to be here fully.
Let the words settle.
Begin to visualize yourself moving through a simple part of your day.
Washing a cup.
Opening a window.
Pausing at a red light.
See yourself there,
Breathing fully present.
And repeat quietly,
I am here,
Meeting this moment with my whole self.
Scan your body once again.
Is there a place that feels alive?
Warm.
Tingly.
Natural.
Safe.
Rest your attention there.
If the mind wanders,
Gently return,
Not as a correction.
As kindness.
And offer yourself this final affirmation,
Joy is woven into this moment,
Waiting for my attention.
Let that land in its own way.
And as you're ready,
Gently float your eyes open or refocus your gaze.
Take in the space around you as if you're seeing it for the first time.
The shapes,
The quiet movement of air,
The life in stillness.
And before moving into your day,
Consider this question,
What part of this moment am I usually too busy to notice?
And if it feels right,
Take a few moments to write or reflect on what surfaced for you.
Thank you for being here,
Fully.
Joyfully.
And alive.
