Good morning and welcome to the dawn of a new day.
I wake up this morning and I smile.
24 brand new hours ahead of me.
What miracle will unfold today?
I wake up slowly and consciously.
Breathing in.
I know that I'm breathing in.
Breathing out.
I know that I'm breathing out.
I am grateful to have another day on this planet.
No matter what happens,
No matter what I encounter,
I am grateful to be here.
Placing my hands over my eyes,
I can feel the warmth and soft pressure of my fingertips on top of my eyes.
I am grateful for the gift of sight.
These eyes that can watch the sunrise,
That can see the reflection of clouds on the surface of a crystal clear lake.
That can look deeply into the eyes of someone I love.
That can express the deep love I feel for them.
I am grateful for these eyes and the gift of sight.
Placing my hands over my mouth,
I am grateful for the gift of speech.
Grateful for the voice that can express thoughts and feelings.
My words carry meaning and have the power to bring kindness and hope into the world or pain and suffering.
I can give hope and express love with my words.
I am grateful for my voice.
Placing my hands over my ears,
I am grateful for the gift of sound.
For these ears that can hear music play,
Wind blow through autumn leaves.
Flames crackle upon an open fire.
Waves crash on the shore.
I am grateful for the gift of sound.
Placing my hands over my nose,
I am grateful for the gift of smell.
The gift to smell fragrance of flowers carried through a soft summer breeze.
The aroma of warm cookies fresh from the oven.
The scent of a familiar perfume or cologne.
I am grateful for the gift of smell.
Placing my hands softly upon my cheeks,
I give thanks for my skin.
I am grateful for the gift of touch.
The gift to feel the breeze upon my skin,
The softness of the cloth upon my body,
The warmth of the sheets embracing me in a soft cocoon while I drift into sleep at night.
I am grateful for the gift of touch.
Gently placing my hands together,
I entwine my fingers.
I give thanks for these hands.
These hands that help me do everything,
That feed me,
That dress me,
That cleanse me,
That carry things for me,
That express the words of my thoughts,
That turn the pages of the papers I read.
I give thanks for these hands.
Placing my hands on my tummy,
I give thanks for all the organs in my abdomen.
They work so hard every day to transform the foods I eat into nourishment for my body,
That give me the strength that sustains me.
I thank you for the gift of this miracle of nourishment.
Placing my arms across my chest,
I gently hug myself.
Breathing in,
I can feel my lungs expanding into my crossed arms,
And I give thanks for these lungs.
Thank you for always being here,
Bringing oxygen into my body,
And allowing me to transform my blood into a life-giving river that flows through me,
Quietly,
Continually,
And lovingly enriching me every moment of every day.
I give thanks for this constant and often unconscious flow.
Placing my hands over my heart,
I give thanks for my heart.
Always working hard,
Beating constantly to pump blood through my veins and into my organs.
My organs filled with a continual flow of blood,
Working together like a symphony of instruments,
Performing miracles to keep me healthy and alive.
I am grateful for the way all of my organs work together in harmony to give life to my body.
I thank you,
All of you,
For the gift of life.
I thank you.
As I slowly wake to the dawn of a new day,
I am grateful to have this day.
Whatever challenges I encounter,
Whatever comes my way,
I am grateful to be here.
Breathing in,
I know I am breathing in.
Breathing out,
I know I am breathing out.
I am alive.
I am here.
I cherish this moment.
I carry this mindful reflection upon the miracle that is me.
I take it with me throughout my day.
May I be happy.
May I be healthy.
May I be peaceful.
May I be safe.
May you be happy.
May you be healthy.
May you be peaceful.
May you be safe.
Continue to allow this beautiful expression of life through Pachelbel's canon wash over you today.
Have a beautiful day filled with kindness and love.
Goodbye.
