We aspire to be better versions of ourselves than the year before.
This best possible future self meditation will help you to step into the space of learning from your future self the steps that you need to take now to reach your goals,
Dreams and desires.
So if you're ready,
Get comfortable on a chair with your feet firmly on the floor.
And with your hand on your heart,
We're going to take three deep breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth to get both your brain and your heart into coherence with each other.

I'd like you to imagine that you're at the top of a beautiful curving staircase.
A grand staircase with a wooden handrail that feels smooth and a touch.
There are 10 steps on this staircase and with each step you're going to relax deeper and deeper into your chair.
So place your hand on the handrail and feel it cold underneath your hand and take the first step,

Relaxing out of your body as you listen to my voice.

And now you find yourself in a long hallway with a door at the end.
And as you walk down this hallway,
You can hear your footsteps echo all around.
And as you near to a door,
You can see your hand,
Your right hand,
Come out and grab the door handle,
Wrapping your fingers around the handle,
Feeling the cold metal in the palm of your hand.
And as you twist and push open the door,
You find yourself at the back of a dark cinema,
The steps leading down and seats going off both to your left and your right,
Looking around in the darkness.
You are the only person in the cinema.
And as you find a seat and sit down,
The music starts and the lights start to flicker on the cinema screen.
And there on the screen is you,
Not you right now,
But you in the future.
You can see yourself in a house with the most amazing views out through the window.
The light is flooding into the room.
You see yourself going about normal everyday tasks,
Making a cup of coffee or a cup of tea,
Sitting down,
Relaxing in the sunlight that floods in through the window.
All of a sudden,
Your future self turns round and beckons you.
They beckon you with their hand to come closer.
And as you stand up and walk down the steps to the floor,
You realise that there are three steps leading up behind the cinema screen.
And as you take those steps,
You see a doorway and as you enter into the doorway,
You find yourself here with your future self.
You look around,
Drinking in every last detail of this home that you live in,
This space that you own,
The views out through the window.
You stand and listen to the sounds that you can hear,
Drinking every last detail in for when you return.
As you look,
Your future self beckons you to come and sit with them.
And now you have an opportunity to ask them questions about what they did,
Who they became in order to live the life that they do now.
So you have a few seconds to ask them any question that you need to know right now.
Maybe they're showing you something,
Maybe they're telling you who they needed to become in order to live the life that they do now.
Maybe you decide to wander through the house and take in all the surroundings and environment around you.
Maybe you walk into their office and see something sitting on the desk.
Or maybe you just sit there and have a tea or a coffee with your future self.
As you sit and as you wander,
You drink in all of the details,
Things that you may need when you come back to reality.
You look across at your future self and you take in the way that they dress,
The way that they speak,
Absorbing every last detail.
If you're ready,
You can even venture outside the house,
Drink in the environment,
The weather,
The location,
The sounds and the sights,
The way that it feels in your body to be there,
Drinking in every last detail.
When you're ready,
Your future self will greet you and whisper something in your ear and point to the door that will return you back to the here and now.
As you say goodbye to your future self and open the door and step into the hallway,
You take with you valuable pieces of information that will help you at this moment in time.
And as you close the door behind you,
We're going to count from three to one.
With each count,
We're going to come into the present here and now.

Two,
One.
When you're ready,
You can open your eyes and take your pen and your journal and write down all of the things that you remember about your best possible future self.
The information they gave,
The way that they looked,
The way that they held themselves,
The environment they found themselves in,
The clues and signs that were around the house and outside.
Write them all down.
And if you so wish,
You can continue to elaborate on what it feels like to be your best possible future self and the steps that you need to take in the present here and now to bring that future into a reality.
