Start by finding yourself in a comfortable position.
You may be sitting cross-legged,
Kneeling,
Sitting on a chair.
Allow your spine to be upright but allow your body to also be relaxed.
You might find taking three deep breaths helpful in this.
As you breathe out allow your weight to drop.
Feel yourself coming into the present moment.
Feel yourself beginning to tune more into your breathing and sensations that might be occurring in your body.
This is a meditation on realizing your radiance.
We'll start with a small scan of our body.
Begin by feeling the sensations of your head and your scalp.
Feel your eyes relaxing,
Your brow releasing of any tension.
Feel your cheeks relax and your tongue soften.
Allow your shoulders to drop,
Feeling the energy moving down your arms like liquid honey into your hands.
Feel your hands tingling with warmth and sensation.
Allow your chest to soften and your belly.
Feel tension from your shoulders drop,
Move down your back till it is dissolved.
Feel your buttocks relax,
Your thighs,
Your knees,
Your calves let go and you feel into your feet.
Now take a minute to realize the awareness you have in the whole of your body right now.
You might feel tingling,
Warmth,
Sensations,
There may be pain.
Just accept whatever is there and allow yourself to breathe into it.
Allow yourself to become receptive and open.
Allow yourself to feel these words that I'm about to say rather than analyze with your mind.
And a poet said,
Speak to us of beauty but how will you seek beauty and how will you find her unless she herself be your way and your guide?
How will you speak unless she be the weaver of your speech?
The aggrieved and injured say beauty is kind and gentle like a young mother half shy in her own glory she walks among us.
The passionate say nay beauty is a thing of might and dread she shakes the ground beneath us and the sky above us.
The tired and weary say beauty is a soft whisperings her voice yields our silence like a faint light that quivers in fear of the shadow.
The restless say we have heard her shouting among the mountains and with her cries came the thundering of hooves the beating of wings and the roaring of lions.
At night the watchmen of the city say beauty will rise with the dawn from the east.
The toilers and watchfarers say we have seen her leaning over the edge of the earth from the window of the sunset.
In the winter say the snowbound she will come leaping onto the hills with the spring and in the summer heat the reapers say we have seen her dancing with the autumn leaves and in her hair was a drift of snow.
All this you have said of beauty but yet you have not spoken of her but of needs unsatisfied.
Beauty is not a need but an ecstasy she is not a mouth-thirsting nor is she an empty hand outstretched but rather she is a heart inflamed and a soul enchanted.
She is not the sap from far a bark nor is she a wing attached to a claw but rather she is a flock of angels forever in flight or a garden forever in bloom.
She is not the image you see nor is she the sounds that you hear but rather she is the image you see when your eyes are closed and the sounds you hear when your ears are blocked.
People of Orphalese beauty is life when life unveils her holy face but you are life and you are the veil.
Beauty is eternity gazing at herself in a mirror but you are eternity and you are the mirror.
So I want you to feel those words sink into you and realize your true radiance does not come from what you desire it does not come from your longing but rather it is a light inside of you.
It is a radiance that we often miss in our everyday it is a knowing and a gift and it is alive in each one of you.
I want you to breathe into that right now breathe into this feeling of wholeness of exquisite beauty of deep knowing and yet unknowing.
Breathe into your heart and if you can feel it beating.
So it's from this tender place that I invite you to write a love letter to yourself to tell yourself who you are to remind yourself when you are going through a dark night of the soul when you find it hard to get out of bed or you've received terrible news or you've had a day where your inner critic tells you over and over that you were wrong you're not good enough you're never gonna make it.
I want you to write a letter that's an antidote to this that focuses on the most amazing things about you about who you are your gifts what you bring to the world and I want you to write it as if you are your lover writing it to you with the most amazing compassion and insight and wisdom to see through those clouds of murkiness to recognize your radiance.
When you're ready take some deep breaths just bring yourself back to this moment start to see even with your eyes closed the room you were in right now if you're outside your surroundings start to wiggle your fingers and toes and slowly gently when you are ready open your eye and begin to write remembering that any time you can come back and bathe in this radiance.
