If you are a student and you tend to blank out during tests or exams,
You can try this little meditation.
Sit down at your exam and do this or something like this for 2-3 minutes at the start of the exam with your eyes closed.
Imagine yourself in the cockpit of a jet fighter.
As you look around,
There are very few lights and buttons,
Just a steering wheel or yoke that you can pull back to take off and go higher,
An automatic lander,
And a hyperdrive button for full or extreme power.
This is a magic jet,
A jet over which you have all of the power.
It can fly and land.
One is always safe in it.
And if one has fear of flights or spaces or heights,
Only good things can happen here.
The jet represents how your exam will go and it will go very well indeed.
Let's take three deep breaths in and slowly exhale.
Let's do it together.
Breathe in through your nose.
Mouth exhale slow.
Breathe in through the nose.
Mouth exhale slow.
Breathe in through the nose.
Mouth exhale slow.
Breathe in through the nose.
Mouth exhale slow.
Do two more at your own pace.
Take a look around the cockpit of the jet fighter.
You feel comfortable and safe and you know this jet fighter is a powerful machine,
Like your brain,
A powerful tool today for you to use to do its job.
The wheel or yoke that you can pull back to take off will take you higher and higher.
There is one throttle to drive quickly forward to take off from the runway,
An automatic lander,
And a hyperdrive for maximum power.
You understand how everything functions in the plane.
You have been cleared to go down the runway.
The throttle is easy to find in front of you.
Start to move slowly towards the takeoff runway.
Imagine yourself slowly moving forward,
Fairly slowly,
And see in front of you where the road you are on now leads to the takeoff runway.
There are plenty of lights and guide rails.
Drive and taxi slowly towards that takeoff runway.
See yourself driving towards the runway and away from your current path.
Find yourself taxiing to the runway and stopping for a moment with the runway path directly in front of you.
Imagine seeing the pathway in front of you to take off.
You feel calm and in control,
And you begin to feel the excitement as you are cleared for takeoff.
In a moment,
You will slam the throttle forward and pull back on the yoke and feel your body sucked back as your head is sucked back and you head into the air.
Imagine yourself preparing for takeoff.
Take two deep breaths in and slowly exhale.
Breathe in through the nose.
Mouth exhale.
Breathe in through the nose.
Mouth exhale.
We are going to take off now.
Slam on the throttle and feel your body sucked back as your heart races and you hear the noise of the gen engine firing.
You feel the wheels on the ground.
You hear the noise of the rubber traction on the runway.
Faster,
Faster,
Faster.
Pull up on the yoke wheel in front of you and you feel your body sucked back and towards your seat as a plane shoots up into the air.
You are going higher and higher.
Hear the engines firing full,
The landing gear coming up as you quickly head up and up and up towards the thick,
Billowing white clouds that you are about to pierce.
Faster and higher,
The pure white of the clouds,
Thrilling but serene and in control.
And then you are above the clouds looking down.
You feel calm.
Your brain is functioning fully.
The jet is magical and powerful.
You are in full control.
You are arriving at an altitude where you will cruise during the exam,
During the test.
Notice the hyperdrive button,
Which is bright green in front of you.
Every time you are feeling weary or unclear or anxiety,
Press it full on during the exam and listen to the maximum power of the jet power up.
Hear its high pitched white noise in your ears of the jet engine at maximum power.
This power you feel fire through your heart and your head and your mind,
This rush of adrenaline and power as you write the exam.
Test it now just for a moment.
Reach to the green hyperdrive and slam it on full power.
Hear its high pitched white noise in your ears of the jet engine at maximum power.
This power you feel fire through your heart and your head and your mind,
This rush of adrenaline and power as you feel it rush through your bloodstream as you write this exam.
Press the hyperdrive to turn it off.
Listen to the power of the powerful jet engines calm and take a few breaths.
Take a moment to look around you at the clouds below you.
Feel your confidence firing hot.
Hear the jet engines firing calmly.
You feel calm.
Your brain is functioning fully.
The jet is magical and powerful and you are in control.
You are at an altitude where you will cruise during the exam and you will do very well indeed.
If you panic at any time in the exam or test or you feel tired,
Press the hyperdrive as many times as you wish and close your eyes and listen to the jet engine fire in your ears.
This jet fighter you may land whenever you wish.
The automatic landing button will take you safely home.
