Welcome to this guided meditation session.
Today we will focus on our nature as interconnected beings and on how we depend not only on each other but also on everything else in the universe as part of a great cosmic balance.
Please make yourself comfortable either on a chair or cross-legged on the floor.
Take a moment to adjust your posture,
Finding a balance between relaxation and alertness.
Find some length in your spine and if you are seated on a chair,
Place both feet squarely on the ground.
Feel into the connection to your seat or the ground and notice the feeling of gravity in the sense of weight.
Now gently close your eyes and take a few deep breaths if you feel like doing so.
Bring your attention to your breath for a moment,
Allowing the breath to come in and out through your nose at its own rhythm.
Simply place yourself as an observer,
Noticing the flow of the breath coming and going.
Choose a spot around your nose or nostrils where you can feel the touch of the breath and notice the physical sensations that come as a result.
Keep your attention focused on these sensations for a few moments and whenever your mind wanders away,
Gently it back to them.
Let's reflect now on all the ways in which we depend and are connected to others during our lives.
Starting at your mother's womb,
You had the physical connection of the umbilical cord to nurture you.
As you come out of the womb,
That physical connection is no longer there but still you form a strong connection with your parents,
Siblings and family.
These connections give you support in many different ways,
Physically through material things and basic needs,
But also emotionally and even spiritually.
As you grow older,
Your network of connections expand to other people in your community,
Your country and beyond.
Let's take a moment to acknowledge and appreciate the role that others play and have played in our life,
Bringing feelings of gratitude and appreciation.
Good.
Now let's make this feeling of appreciation grow and expand,
Reflecting on how ultimately we are connected to everything else.
Starting with nature,
How dependent we are on nature,
How we are part of it and all the ways in which we are interconnected with all its elements.
We are part of a whole,
We are connected to everything else and there is a cosmic balance and harmony that governs the universe.
Take a moment to immerse yourself in that feeling of gratitude and communion.
As you stay there with that feeling of deep connection,
Reflect also on how nothing is ever lost in this balance of existence.
Things change and transform but nothing is ever lost.
How could it be otherwise?
