We sit and breathe. And when we say breathe. Be aware of your breath. We often say, follow the breath as you inhale. As you exhale, you can focus on the breath. Or you can just be with your awareness. You're not trying to do anything. You're not trying to be anything.

And just a reminder about the posture for sitting.

Sit straight,

As erect as you can be,

As alert as you can be,

Eyes closed.

You can open them a little bit if you get sleepy.

We sit and breathe.

And when we say breathe,

Be aware of your breath.

We often say follow the breath as you inhale,

As you exhale.

You can focus on the breath,

Or you can just be with your awareness.

You're not trying to do anything.

You're not trying to be anything.

The Zen master Dogen said,

Think not thinking.

This is not the same as don't think.

Your brain will secrete thoughts.

Accept those.

Don't try to do anything with them.

Don't follow them.

Follow your breath.

As thoughts come and go,

Like clouds,

Just let them float by.

Just be a question.
