Joe wrote this song while on retreat at the Vallecitos Mountain Refuge in New Mexico with Dharma teachers Wendy Johnson and Therese Fitzgerald. He was inspired by their transmission of the Dharma, particularly by their teachings on the 3 Doors of Liberation: wishlessness, signlessness, and emptiness. This teaching helps Joe to touch the reality of interbeing and non-self. If you would like to sing along, the refrain is "Oh how free it is to be wishless, without a sign, an empty mind."
