Yoga Nidra For Inspired Action
This guided meditation uses the ancient framework of yoga nidra and is designed to help you shift from contemplation to action. If you're already clear on what you want this meditation will support you towards its fulfillment. It can also clarify what it is you really want, deep down, by creating a safe space for you to connect with your heart and listen to its response. By have access to an incredible resource of energy and by cultivating it you will have the initiative to easily do what needs to be done. Whenever we begin or move forward on our journey obstacles can arise but look deeper, and you may recognize them as manifestations of the fear that lies within. By reconnecting to your heart and believing in yourself you'll easily find solutions.
Transcript
Hello and welcome to this meditation.
Find a comfortable place where you can relax and won't be disturbed.
Close the door,
Settle in,
And if it's comfortable,
Close your eyes.
Let's begin by taking a few deep cleansing breaths.
Breathing in through the nose,
Expanding through your chest.
And then open mouth,
Exhale,
Releasing and letting go.
Two more just like that.
Breathing in deeply.
And releasing.
Last one,
Inhale.
And exhale.
Tuning into your body here and noticing if there's anywhere that you need to adjust,
Shift to let yourself become more comfortable.
Knowing that while you're here,
There is nowhere else to go.
There is nothing else to do.
You are exactly where you are supposed to be.
And as we continue throughout this journey,
You may notice that your mind will wander and drift.
And that's okay.
You can just set the intention now that a part of you will stay attuned to the essence of what I am sharing with you here.
That a part of you will stay with the words of my voice and the ideas that I'm here to offer you.
Allowing everything that you receive and interpret to bring you most benefit.
So as we continue,
You can just draw your sense of attention towards what you can hear in this moment.
Drawing it out to the farthest sound away from you right now.
And then drawing that in closer so that you begin to attune your sense of hearing from the sounds that are farthest away until they get closer and closer and closer to you.
So that you are attuned to the sound of your own breathing.
Perhaps to the beating of your own heart.
And then becoming aware of the weight of your body resting against whatever cushion supports you.
Breathing where any fabric touches your skin.
And even the temperature of the air that surrounds you.
And then you're shifting your attention to the sensations of your palm,
Of your right palm.
Becoming aware of your right thumb,
First finger,
Second finger,
Third finger,
Fourth finger,
Your right wrist,
Forearm,
Elbow,
And upper arm.
Shifting now to the left palm,
The left thumb,
First finger,
Second finger,
Third finger,
Fourth finger,
The left wrist,
Forearm,
Elbow,
And upper arm.
Shifting attention to the crown of your head.
Becoming aware of the right side of your head and the left side of your head.
The right hemisphere of your brain and the left hemisphere of your brain.
Forehead,
Right eyebrow,
Left eyebrow,
Right eyelid,
Left eyelid.
Down the bridge of your nose,
The right nostril,
And the left nostril.
The right cheek,
The left cheek,
The right ear,
The left ear,
The right jawline,
The left jawline,
Inside of the mouth,
The tongue,
The top lip,
And bottom lip,
The front of your neck,
And the back of your neck.
The top part of your shoulder blades,
Down your spine,
The right side of your back,
And the left side of your back.
The right part of your chest,
The right rib cage,
The left chest,
Left rib cage,
The abdomen,
Aware of your right hip,
The right glute,
The right thigh,
Knee,
Shin,
And ankle.
The right foot,
The right big toe,
First toe,
Second toe,
Third toe,
Fourth toe.
The ball of your right foot,
The sole of your right foot,
And now your left hip,
Left glute,
Thigh,
Knee,
Shin,
Ankle,
And left foot,
Left big toe,
First toe,
Second toe,
Third toe,
Fourth toe,
The ball of your left foot,
And the sole of your left foot.
Becoming aware here of the entire right side of your body,
And the left side of your body,
And now your whole body.
From your head down to your toes,
Your whole body.
And now your breath moving in and out for a few cycles at your own pace,
Following your breath as it moves in and out,
Easy and rhythmic.
And now noticing the heaviness of your body,
And shifting into the weightlessness of your body.
Cycling from heaviness to weightlessness.
And now breathing again in and out.
On the screen of your mind,
Create certain images that I suggest.
Know that whatever appears for you is perfectly fine.
Letting go of the need to do this right,
And simply allowing whatever shapes and images in your mind that arise to be okay.
Being either a king or a queen sitting on a throne,
Wearing a crown,
And a red flames of a warm fire.
And balancing on a seesaw,
Moving up and down,
Up and down.
An ornate key fitting into a lock.
Hands on a steering wheel.
A runner at the starting block.
And now a beautiful pink flower beginning to bloom and open its petals.
And as your vision begins to pan out from this beautiful flower,
You see other vegetation,
Other flowers and shrubs and trees.
And you realize that you're walking along a path,
A well-trodden path in a beautiful garden.
Can feel the sunshine upon your skin on this lovely day.
Everywhere you look there's manicured greenery,
A blue sky up above,
Easy white clouds.
This path seems to go on and on endlessly as you gaze ahead.
It's quiet here with the birds chirping in the distance,
The wind gently rustling in the trees.
And you feel a sense of contentment here.
Although it is comfortable and beautiful in this place,
You can't help but shake the idea that in the back of your mind there is this feeling that you'd rather be somewhere else,
But you don't know exactly where.
And so you continue to stroll along,
Aimlessly meandering through this garden,
Which now becomes a lush meadow,
Less about the manicured shrubs and more about the wild flowers that are growing as they wish.
And you begin to notice the sound of flowing water.
And you see something that you hadn't noticed before.
Just up ahead there's a fork in the path.
And you can see that one way leads you back to those gardens,
Those beautiful,
Comfortable gardens,
And the other towards this river.
And sure of where to go,
You connect within by taking a nice deep breath and turn your attention inwards towards your heart to decide which way to go.
As you do,
Instantly you feel a tug at your chest towards the flowing water,
Following this magnetic attraction you turn towards the river.
Now even though you don't know exactly where this path will lead,
You feel a sense of excitement,
A rush of energy and enthusiasm rising with each easy step that you take,
Your body here feeling more weightless than it did before.
Now in the corner of your eye you catch the fluttering wings of a butterfly,
And you know that you're in the right place,
Moving along easily until you arrive at the water's edge.
As you look beyond the other side of the river,
You intuitively know that that is where you wanted to be,
Back in the gardens that inner knowingness was directing you here,
Now.
And here this place is anything you wanted to be.
So again,
You take a moment,
Connecting with your heart,
As you let it paint the picture of what you truly want.
Here in this space,
You can be completely honest with yourself,
Allowing your deepest desires to rise forth.
What do you really want?
What do I want?
Now is the time for you to express this for yourself,
To ask for what you want.
It is safe here.
The time is now.
Do you want another quiet,
Serene place in nature?
Or in the justic city,
Pulsing with energy?
Do you want to be alone or with others?
How do you want to feel?
What do you want to see?
What do you want to do?
Let your creativity,
Your imagination play for a few moments in silence here.
Good.
As you draw yourself back,
Back to the river,
You realize that where you stand now is a very shallow place,
And that you see these flat,
Grey stepping stones laid ever so perfectly,
Leading from where you are now to across to the bank on the other side,
Going exactly where you want to go.
Even though these stones are placed evenly in their flat,
They could be slippery,
So you'll cross with care,
And your journey will be easy.
Looking forward to what lies before you,
You feel that same sense of excitement and readiness.
You move forward,
Taking one step at a time,
Knowing that you can't progress to the next step until you've secured the last,
Feeling focused and at ease.
You're mindful of your footing,
Mindful of what you want,
And you continue to move forward.
Here you're in no hurry.
There is a time and a place for everything.
You've already committed to this journey.
You're already in alignment with what you truly want.
It's becoming easier now to just focus on this present task at hand,
And you see how by following your heart,
By asking for what you want,
Can lead you straight to its manifestation.
You take a few lingering moments here to enjoy this place where you've asked for what you want and your heart has delivered.
Feel the feelings of contentment,
Of relief,
Of self-expression and courage.
Knowing that you have laid the blueprint and your mind and body will simply follow it,
Happening at a conscious and a subconscious level.
Continue to do this work for you.
It is now time to return,
Returning to this room,
Returning to the weight of your body in this space,
In this time,
Feeling the cushion supporting your body,
Feeling your breath begin to deepen.
Drawing yourself back,
Gently rubbing your thumb along each fingertip,
On the right hand and on the left.
Again deepening your breath.
Even if it feels good,
Gently rocking your head from side to side.
Taking a nice stretch here,
Reaching your arms up high,
Standing pointing your toes and letting it go.
Opening your eyes as you wish and moving forward with care.
Namaste.
