In this meditation I'm going to guide you through the Dickens process.
It's a process to create energy and motivation to make a change in your life.
You are invited to do the meditation either sitting in a normal meditation pose or laying down so you can fully relax.
Make sure you have uninterrupted time.
You will not need to write anything down.
This is going to be a purely meditative process.
So we're going to start with some deeper breathing.
Just to bring your awareness to your body,
To how your breath is moving through you.
Just notice how your body feels.
How does your face feel?
Feel the muscles around your eyes,
Your jaw.
See if you can bring a little bit more relaxation with the next breath.
Notice if you're carrying any tension in your shoulders.
And again with the next exhale see if you can release some more of that tension.
Now I want you to imagine that you're standing in front of a mirror.
It could be a mirror in your home or maybe it's purely in your imagination.
And then really look at yourself.
Look at your hair,
Your facial expression,
How you hold your body,
The clothes you're wearing.
And notice if there's anything around you,
Any environment that is beyond the mirror that you see reflected in the mirror.
And now looking at yourself I want you to connect with that part of yourself that you want to transform.
What are the challenges,
The difficulties,
The patterns that you want to let go of,
You want move away from.
Now really see how these patterns are affecting your life.
They may be affecting your relationships,
Your family with friends.
Perhaps it's affecting your work,
Your performance,
Maybe your physical appearance,
Your energy levels.
How is it stopping you,
Holding you back from achieving your dreams?
Now really feel that in your body.
And as you feel it,
Connect it to how you look in the mirror.
And this Dickens process,
We want to use pain as a way to initiate energy that we can use for change.
So now take in a deep breath and let it out.
And now we are going to explore the cost of staying the same.
So I want you to project yourself five years into the future,
Five years further along in your life.
You're five years older,
Five years have passed in your work,
In your relationships.
And in those five years,
Imagine you haven't made any changes.
You haven't been able to change the patterns,
Your behaviors.
There was no healing,
No growth.
So now look in the mirror at yourself five years older and nothing has changed.
How does that feel?
How does it feel to know that those five years have slipped by not doing the things you wanted to do,
Not performing at a level that you know you can,
Not being as healthy as you could be.
Take a moment and look at yourself in the mirror and really feel what that feels like.
Now take another deep breath.
And with that breath,
You are now projecting yourself 10 years into the future.
10 years of continuing on this trajectory,
Not really changing anything.
10 years of procrastination,
Of not engaging with your dreams,
Of maybe being in the same relationship,
Struggles,
Of not being the person that you know you can be.
And again,
Really look at yourself in the mirror,
Really feel how that feels like.
Feel the heaviness of it.
And now we're going to do another jump even further into the future.
So take an inhale.
And now you are 20 years in the future.
You can do a quick calculation which year that would be,
How old you would be.
And still nothing has changed.
Look at yourself in the mirror.
This is the real cost of staying the same.
What's your physical appearance now?
Your hair,
Your face,
Your skin?
20 years of continuing on the trajectory that's causing you concern.
How is your self-image in 20 years if nothing changes?
How does that self-image influence your relationships?
The choices you make for your health,
The amount of money you make.
Really see the ripple effects of staying the same.
How does that negatively impact all the different areas of your life?
Notice how you feel.
Allow yourself to really feel it.
This uncomfortable feeling.
Be present with the feeling throughout your body.
Okay,
One more breath.
Really feeling the heaviness of it.
Okay,
Amazing.
Because now I want you to understand and to know that this is not the trajectory you're on.
This does not have to become the timeline you're living.
Because right now you can choose how you're moving forward.
So get grounded in the present moment again.
If you want you can move your body a little bit.
Maybe you want to make some fists or shake your hands a little bit or your arms or your shoulders.
Come back here into the present moment.
And know that this is not the path you are taking.
You are choosing something different.
You are choosing something more.
You are choosing change to evolve,
To become better.
So take another breath.
Feel the breath flowing through your body.
And now imagine who is it that you are becoming?
What is that vision you have for yourself?
So let's go back in front of the mirror.
Look at yourself and really connect with that part of yourself that knows,
That has deep conviction that there is more beauty,
More success,
More health possible for you.
And allow yourself to feel the possibility.
Let it fill up every cell in your whole body.
You know the potential is there.
And so making the change that you want to make.
And then project yourself five years into the future.
And from this moment on,
You have made those changes.
You have made powerful decisions to act in different ways.
So what do you see five years from now?
Who do you see in that mirror?
How do you hold yourself?
What's your facial expression?
How has your life improved?
Your work,
Your income,
Your family,
Your health.
And how do all of those improvements in your life reflect in your posture?
And your facial expression when you look at yourself in that mirror?
And allow that beautiful feeling to sink into your body.
Beautiful.
And it's going to get even better.
Because now with the next breath,
Project yourself 10 years down the road.
10 years into the future.
And you've kept the change and it has compounded and has made your life,
Your relationships,
Your health,
Your income even better.
And again,
See the trajectory of improvement.
Allow yourself to feel the joy of it.
As you're looking at yourself in the mirror.
Really allow yourself to feel who you have become and who you continue to become.
The type of partner you are,
The type of friend.
How are you going through life?
And this beautiful future.
How does it feel to be you?
Let it sink in to your heart,
To your body,
To every cell.
And now take a deep breath.
And now we jump from 10 years in the future to 20 years in the future.
And it's just been getting better and better.
Changes have led to even more power,
More freedom,
More beauty,
More love.
Again,
Make sure you allow yourself to feel the joy of it.
Know what year it is.
You are 20 years older now.
You're on that path of self-discovery,
Healing,
Deeper levels of self-love.
Because for the last 20 years,
You've made the right decisions.
For your happiness,
For your well-being,
For your freedom.
How much has changed and improved over the last 20 years?
Look at yourself in the mirror.
See your facial expression.
Look into your eyes.
Observe the posture of your body.
20 years of really committing to living life fully and authentically.
This is who you are.
So let that sink in to your system,
Your whole body.
And now take another deep breath.
Come back into the present moment.
All the way back to here now.
Knowing that you are standing at a crossroad.
One path is the path of no change.
And you've seen how that would create so much more pain in the next 5 years,
10 years,
20 years.
And when you see that pain and you acknowledge it,
That informs how you decide today and your commitment to the changes you want to make.
And then you explore the other path that starts right now with making the right choices.
And it leads to such a beautiful,
Expansive life over the next 5 years,
10 years and 20 years.
So as we're coming to an end of this meditation,
I want you to get really clear and really specific what those changes are for you.
And what you can do as a first step right after coming out of this meditation is to notice in yourself your sense of commitment.
And then in your own time,
Slowly start moving your body and opening your eyes.
Holding in your mind the beautiful future that awaits you.
And right now,
Today,
Tomorrow,
The day after tomorrow,
You're making the right decisions.
