Hello and welcome to meditation time.

My name is James Whitaker.

I deal with physical pain as a constant due to a medical condition.

This meditation is how I meditate to relieve or distract from some of the pain.

You may sit or lie down as we do this meditation.

Do whatever is most comfortable for you.

As with everything,

I start with prayer.

Dear God,

Welcome to this time.

We thank you that you are a loving Heavenly Father and care for our well-being.

You care when we are in pain and you want all things to work together for our good.

We pray that you will give us a time of peace and help us to feel less in pain.

In Jesus name,

Amen.

Next thing I do is scroll through my Bible and I pick a verse.

I try to pick a verse that gives me a feeling of peace or joy.

Today we will use John 14 37 in the Passion translation.

It says,

I leave the gift of peace with you,

My peace,

Not the kind of fragile peace given by the world,

But my perfect peace.

Don't yield to fear or be troubled in your hearts.

Instead,

Be courageous.

Take a moment to really take in what the verse means to you.

What emotions does it bring up?

I'm going to read it one more time.

Really focus on it.

I leave the gift of peace with you,

My peace,

Not the kind of fragile peace given by the world,

But my perfect peace.

Don't yield to fear or be troubled in your hearts.

Instead,

Be courageous.

Hold on to that feeling and that meaning as we start breathing.

In through your nose,

Long and deep,

Out through your mouth,

Long and slow.

In through your nose,

Long and deep,

Out through your mouth,

Long and slow.

Gently close your eyes.

In through your nose,

Long and deep,

Out through your mouth,

Long and slow.

In through your nose,

Long and deep,

Out through your mouth,

Long and slow.

Let your breathing return to its normal rhythm.

As the music plays,

Keep your eyes closed.

Continue the breathing exercise as needed and hold on to the emotion and meaning in the verse we read.

Really focus on each breath as it goes in and out slowly.

In 10 minutes,

We will close in prayer.

You you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you Dear God,

Thank you for the time of peace you have given us and thank you for any relief we felt.

I pray that everyone has an amazing and peaceful day.

Thank you God.

In Jesus name,

Amen.

May the peace of God go with you.

God bless.
