Hello and welcome to meditation time.
Today's meditation is entitled A Heart Like Yours.
The goal of this meditation is to foster compassion.
Not just what the world sees as compassion but the compassion that Jesus had.
The compassion where he fed 5,
000 people.
Let's start.
Breathe in.
Let the stillness settle over you.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Lord Jesus,
You never saw just a crowd.
You saw each person,
Each story,
Each need,
Each soul.
Pause and let that truth rest in your heart.
They were hungry,
Tired,
Wandering,
And yet you saw them as worthy of love.
You didn't lecture.
You didn't keep your distance.
You didn't ask what it would cost.
Or wait for someone else to move.
You simply moved.
Pause here.
Feel the weight of that simplicity and that call.
With hands open,
With the heart broken wide,
You fed them.
With body and soul.
Lord,
That's the kind of compassion I long for.
Not the tidy kind.
Not the rehearsed kind.
But the kind that stirs the heart and shakes the soul.
Take a moment and make your prayers known to God.
I want compassion that won't let me look away.
That won't let me scroll past.
That won't let me sit while someone is in pain.
Breathe deep and let this discomfort stir something holy in you.
Break my heart like yours was broken.
But not with pity.
With love that does something.
Love that doesn't ask what's in it for me,
But whispers gently,
How can I serve?
Sit in that whisper and let it become a prayer.
Grow in me a spirit that says,
I may not have much,
But here's my bread.
Here are my fish.
Take them,
Lord,
And do something miraculous.
Pause again.
Feel the hope and surrender.
Lord,
Teach me to feed more than stomachs.
To nourish aching souls with words that lift.
To notice the unnoticed.
To care with no scoreboard,
No reward,
But just your delight.
When I'm tired,
Remind me,
You kept giving.
When I feel empty,
Whisper again,
You filled the baskets from next to nothing.
When I doubt,
My little offerings,
Remind me that love multiplies.
Pause and let those words echo deep inside.
Shape me,
Lord.
Not into a fan of you,
But a mirror of you.
Not just in big public ways,
But in quiet hidden places,
Where kindness costs,
Where no one sees,
But you.
Let my compassion be a wildfire,
Lit by your mercy,
Igniting grace everywhere it touches.
In the matchless name of Jesus Christ,
Amen.
