Hello everyone,
My name is James.
I'm going to lead you through a little guided meditation today.
First I'd like you to find yourself a quiet place to sit.
Turn off your phone,
Maybe dim the lights.
Make sure you're comfortable,
But not so comfortable that you're going to fall asleep.
You need to stay awake for this guided meditation.
Rest your hands loosely in your lap,
Straight back,
Chin slightly uplifted.
Now I'm going to introduce some different settings and images.
Allow your mind to jump immediately to those images.
Let your mind become free to travel without getting attached to any one particular image.
Let's begin.
An ocean.
A deep blue ocean.
A beach with white sand.
A seagull flying over the sand.
Waves crashing against the sand.
A happy meal discarded in an overflowing trash bin.
A strawberry milkshake melted on a white cotton towel.
A quarter pounder with cheese,
The cheese hardened,
Sticking to the wrapper in the sand.
Your dentist is here.
He has traveled many miles to deliver a message.
What is he saying?
What is it that he'd like you to know?
Now I'd like you to imagine that you're floating in the water.
Above you,
A blue,
Blue,
Cloudless sky.
You hear seagulls chasing the current over the waves and feel the sun on your face.
The water is warm and soothing.
You feel a deep sense of calm.
Just stay here for a moment.
Isn't it nice to float in the water?
Can you think of nowhere else you'd rather be?
Now I'd like you to imagine you hear a call from deep down on the ocean floor.
You might experience this as a ringing bell or the low-pitched hum of a whale song.
You dive down into the water,
Kicking,
Propelling yourself deeper.
You are extremely focused but also relaxed.
As you descend further and further,
You feel liberated from your worries.
As you approach the bottom of the ocean,
Your heart begins to beat faster.
There,
Half buried in the sand,
You find an object that has great significance for you.
I'd like you to take this object and put it in your pocket.
Or if it's very large,
You may want to just hold it in your arms.
What is the object you have found in the sand?
What is its significance for you?
Don't worry if you don't yet know your object's significance.
It will become clear over time.
Now I would like you to swim with your object back to the surface.
If your object is very large,
Like a car engine or a piece of furniture,
You may require the help of a friend to move it.
Who is the first person who comes to mind?
Who will help you move your significant object?
Take a moment to be grateful for this person and the assistance you are about to receive.
Once you have safely transported your significant object back to the surface of the water,
I would like you to take a few slow,
Deep breaths.
And when you are ready,
Open your eyes.
As you go about your day today,
Keep your object with you.
See if it speaks to you and notice the language it uses.
I hope you have enjoyed this meditation and if so,
Please follow me on Insight Timer.
Thank you and have a wonderful day!
Namaste.
