Sat Nam and welcome.
My name is Jai Kamulkar.
I'm both a kundalini yoga instructor as well as a Sat Namur Saiyan.
Healer here on insight timer and this is my first video i'm so excited because some meditations they really it's hard to capture them just via audio and so i think this is going to be helpful we are going to be doing an amazing meditation today for focus which is very needed during these distracted times where there's so much noise to sort of filter out and so much static that we need to filter through in order to gain clarity for our.
.
.
Our tasks and our purpose and um to follow after our dreams so i'm glad to get to introduce this to you it's one of my favorites and it's called scissor fingers and so if you can find yourself in a comfortable seated position that would be optimal but of course sitting in a chair would also suffice just as well You're gonna.
.
.
Take some nice,
Slow and deep breaths.
Coming into this moment here.
Your spine is nice and long.
The crown of the head is rising up.
And if you'd like to.
.
.
Invite having you close your eyes down.
That might feel really relaxing as well.
So taking some nice,
Deep,
Long breaths here.
Feeling into the body.
Grounding into those sit bones.
Just resting here a moment.
Reflecting on this intention.
Of how can I bring more focus into my life?
I know personally this was.
A struggle for myself.
Early on in my journey about 11 years ago.
When I first found meditation.
And i had sought out solutions of how can i start stop procrastinating how can i increase my focus and actually achieve those tasks that I'm wishing to achieve.
And now I can say that it's one of my great strengths.
And so I of course want to pass it on.
To you all So taking one last deep breath.
We're opening your eyes again.
And we'll see what the mudra or the hand motion of this meditation is going to look like.
I'm going to invite you to fold down your pinky and ring finger.
Releasing just our index finger and our middle finger.
Then those elbows are gonna come sort of locked in here towards the waist.
Where these forearms are nice and upright.
Spine is nice and long,
Crown is raised high.
And what we're going to be doing with our fingers is we're going to begin.
Like the title says,
Scissor fingers,
We are going to start snipping.
Now easier said than done.
But.
You'll begin to find out.
But though it looks simple.
The longer that we do it,
The more challenging it can become.
So go ahead and.
.
.
Begin this motion.
Both fingers are moving.
Both the Jupiter and the Saturn,
Not just Jupiter.
So this would look like what it would look like if I was just moving one index finger versus both fingers are out and in,
Out and in,
Out and in.
Going to start our Timer here.
And your eye gaze can be focused at the brow point,
Which is between your eyes,
Your third eye point.
You can close your eyes down,
Roll those eyes up and in.
You're now on the clock.
Letting those fingers move.
In and out,
In and out.
Finding a rhythm for yourself.
If you feel a little uncoordinated,
Well,
That's okay.
You are trying something totally new.
And when we're doing something new.
Or.
.
.
Brain has to acclimate So how can you be kind to yourself in this process?
And realizing it's new and.
.
.
A little could be a little bit of a challenge even though it looks like it should be simple.
Are always one of those.
Misnomers.
And Just letting those fingers move and realizing that.
We are doing heavy work inside the brain for you.
So what's actually going on here,
Keeping those.
Forearms nice and upright perpendicular to the floor.
That eye gaze,
That third eye point,
And just breathing long,
Slow,
And deep here.
Long slow deep breath helping that breath carry you through the movement and realizing that even if you were to If I were to bring this.
.
.
Meditation into some fitness gym.
Really buff.
Women really buff me trying to do it,
They're still probably going to struggle moving these fingers.
So I might bring a little humor.
A little softness.
For this.
As you believe in yourself,
As you don't give up.
And you keep moving through it.
And as I was saying,
We're doing heavy work here.
Cerebral area.
We're tapping into.
The harder it gets,
We're tapping into our subconscious.
And the subconscious,
As you know,
Can be that part of the brain that sort of.
.
.
Happens in the background.
Kind of creating patterns for better or worse in our lives,
Habits in our life.
And the more we can become conscious of what's happening in the subconscious.
The more that we can sort of become.
The masters or the curators of what's happening in our life.
Breathing long,
Slow and deep,
Keeping that eye gaze roll up and in at that third eye point,
Which can activate our pituitary gland.
Very important for our intuition.
Very important for our internal guidance.
Now,
I realize you're feeling your fingers and they start to feel fatigue.
That is completely normal.
They might feel a little crampy.
They might actually ache.
Just being kind to yourself and seeing.
Where you can use your mind to push past.
Of course,
Knowing that you are actually safe.
Period of injury.
But it can cause some discomfort,
That is.
Definitely,
For sure.
And knowing that the more that you do this.
Just like anything in life.
If we're riding a bike,
If we're.
.
.
Learning how to write a book,
Paint a picture.
It's gonna be easier with practice.
And I found that if I haven't done this in a while,
Yep,
It's going to be more of a challenge.
Then if I'm doing it every day,
Every other day in order to.
It must be like a little cappuccino shot to bringing in that alertness,
That calm.
They're okay I actually found out about this meditation through another Kundalini yoga instructor.
And she used it to get through a whole accelerated accounting program.
Would do this when she would have a big test coming up.
And it worked really well for her.
And in my job,
I work with a lot of children with disabilities.
Clients need a lot of my focus because I'm a speech language pathologist as well.
And.
.
.
This really helps me to reset quickly.
And so if I'm needing to.
.
.
Get that added.
Burst of energy and focus,
Whether it's writing a report.
Whether it's Going back.
Really focusing and analyzing.
And I'm able to do that.
You are doing so amazing.
I realize how challenging this is.
That's why I'm doing it with you.
Not just explaining it,
But I'm.
.
.
Showing.
That.
It is a challenge,
But it can be done.
Mind over matter,
Right?
Going to snip snip snip snip those old ideas anything that's no longer serving us anything that is not supporting.
All right it's good We can go ahead and cut those out.
Cutting any attachments.
Energetic quartz.
From the past.
And also not helping us to propel forward as fast as we plan.
So snip snip cutting those out.
Doing so,
So well.
The eye gaze really nice and focused anytime it drifts away bring it back to that third eye point I'm gonna go ahead and close my eyes down.
It's natural to wanna.
Look at you while I'm talking,
But also model.
The eye gaze is meant to look like.
Eyes rolled up and in.
At third eye point.
Letting that Jupiter.
And Saturn.
Both those fingers.
Coming into rhythm together just like anything in life.
Most in our rhythm.
You feel most grounded.
We feel most clear.
So we're sniffing through all that noise.
I'm coming back into harmony,
Back into resonance with our true nature.
Breathing,
Letting the breath carry you.
Everything's getting hard just like in life.
We need to rely on the breath.
On the breath.
And taking nice,
Slow,
Long,
Deep inhales and exhales.
Just a few more.
Or more minutes than you would like.
But you will love the benefits.
So stick with it.
Don't give up.
Don't give up yet.
Stay with it.
And tell a little bit of a funny story about how not.
So long after.
I was in my speech therapy career.
I thought you know what other profession i think i really like is maybe hairstyle be a hairstylist as we're snipping away here pretending we've had that profession as well.
But I did practice one time on my current partner and it didn't go so well.
You can attest to that.
And.
.
.
Didn't ask me for another haircut.
We nicknamed it the monk cut after that.
No no offense to any mugs but it was way way too short in the back so Continuing to move those fingers,
Move,
Move,
Move,
Snip,
Snip,
Snip.
We're reprogramming,
Rebalancing both hemispheres of the brain.
My favorite.
Thing to do Yes.
Balancing the brain.
I feel so good.
I feel so great.
Good news.
You have one minute.
Left of this part of the exercise and then I will instruct us what we're doing.
Next so keep going last minute you've already been doing it for 10 minutes this is 11 minutes total So if you're wanting to know how to do this.
You don't have this recording for some reason,
11 minutes.
Of moving these fingers.
Keeping that spine nice and straight,
Keeping that eye gaze right.
Locked in at the third eye point.
Keeping that breath nice and long.
Luxurious breaths in and out,
Filling the belly.
We're in our final 20 seconds.
Can you do it?
Of course you can.
There's that quote.
Think I can do it or I think I can't do it and both are true.
Henry Ford and I really believe that our body listens.
Now,
Listening here,
Taking a deep inhale and continuing that finger movement,
We're going to change our breath to a.
.
.
Canon breath.
Looks like this,
And notice that my belly,
My navel is popping in and out.
We'll be here for just a shorter stint of time,
Two and a half minutes,
So stay with me.
Nice,
Strong,
Vigorous breath,
Moving that navel point,
Moving that belly.
We're going to move the energy here all around the body.
It's going to feel amazing.
So keep it going.
Eyes can be closed down and rolled up and in at the third eye point again.
That's it.
Almost there.
Another minute and a half.
You've got this.
Moving those fingers.
I'm doing it.
You can do it as well.
They might get a little uncoordinated.
That's what happens in life.
We get a little,
We get a,
We misstep.
We lose our balance.
We get right back up and we keep going.
Not letting anything stop us.
Not letting thoughts in our mind that might be a little negative.
This is stupid.
I want to stop.
Isn't working,
Keeping that cannon fire breath going.
It's an O-shaped mouth,
Nice strong breath.
Final 60 seconds.
You can do it.
This is it.
Last 60 seconds and then you're done this entire hard part of this meditation.
You're going to feel so good.
Keep it going.
Jupiter and Saturn.
Coming into synchrony.
Rhythm.
Letting both fingers move even if one's feeling a little harder to move at this phase.
Letting the power of that breath carry you the rest of the way here.
The last 10 seconds.
Nine eight seven six five four three two one and hold those fingers wide Open the fingers.
Inhaling deeply pulling the navel in.
Hold the breath and consolidate.
Tighten all the muscles of the body while holding the breath tight,
Tight,
Tight.
Tight from your nose to your toes and everywhere in between and cannon fire out.
Keeping those hands up,
We're gonna do this two more times.
Inhale deeply.
Filling the lungs,
Filling the belly,
Hold that breath.
Belly moves in towards the spine,
Navel moves in,
Holding the breath.
We're going to squeeze,
Condense.
Squeeze out,
Tighten any stress left in the body.
We're going to squeeze it out of every cell that you have.
Releasing it out.
Squeezing it out,
Tight,
Tight,
Tight,
Tight.
Canifier out.
And last time,
Keeping your hands here,
Inhale.
Deep,
Deep breath and squeeze.
Condent.
Consolidate.
Into your full full potential like a seed ready to burst out and fire Cannon fire.
Exhale and slowly if you need to shake out those fingers.
Or move your legs around.
Go ahead and do that.
And just coming into stillness now,
I'm bringing my fingers into Kyan Mudra.
Resting on the knees which is index finger and thumb Letting the eyes close down,
Spine nice and tall.
Crown Rises.
Just allowing that new clarity and new energy to bloom in the body.
Feeling.
Maybe some added spaciousness.
Letting.
This newfound peace emanate into the body.
In this new focus.
Expand into the mind.
Taking some nice,
Slow,
Long deep breaths here.
Catching your breath after all that hard work.
Who knew that moving your fingers That'd be so challenging.
The next time somebody says you know you should be lifting weights or this or that you can say i know something that's harder and shown scissor fingers thank you so much satanam blessings to all of you and wishing you all tremendous focus.
And peace throughout your days.
Thank you.
