Cosa imparerai
When we are feeling guilty, we're in a state where two inner parts are at odds with each other. There's the 'educator' part, telling us what we did 'wrong', and there's the 'chooser' part (that chose the action), wanting to defend itself and its choice, from being educated. To relax this inner tension, we can use the 'guilt process' of Nonviolent Communication, seeing the beauty of both parts and empathizing deeply on the level of Needs for both. This 'inner mediation' (without a T) cultivates compassion for the conflicted inner voices and restores our inner harmony. Image: Getty

Lezione 1
Context: Internal Family Systems (IFS), Nonviolent Communication (NVC) & The Alētheia Model
This first session will paint the landscape that we will be using in the second session, where the core of the practice will happen. In short, I will give a very brief overview of Internal Family Systems (IFS), Nonviolent Communication (NVC), and as an interpretive framing, the 'Alētheia' model.

The Guilt Process
When we are feeling guilty, we're in a state where two inner parts are at odds with each other. There's the 'educator' part, telling us what we did 'wrong', and there's the 'chooser' part (that chose the action), wanting to defend itself and its choice, from being educated. To relax this inner tension, we can use the 'guilt process' of Nonviolent Communication, seeing the beauty of both parts, and empathizing deeply on the level of Needs for both. This 'inner mediation' (without a T) cultivates compassion for the conflicted inner voices and restores our inner harmony. Important tips: 1. Use an NVC 'Needs list' for reflection; 2. Don't need the intro explanation? The practice starts around 3:15; 3. Pause the track at the specified points & continue when ready; 4. For more effect, use 2 chairs & physically change seats to embody both parts; 5. Writing this process down infinitely clarifies the process; For extra practice, you can check out this track: "NVC Alchemy: Turn Judgments & Triggers Into Beautiful Needs"

Thank you! This processing surprised me with its gentle effectiveness. I am now considering differently the grief and regrets I have been carrying regarding my brother and a former partner, both deceased, wishing I could have prevented estrangement.
