Embarking on Kabir's Path of Love & Understanding: A Recap of the First Course
In this session, we will delve deeper into the teachings of Kabir, a 15th century poet from India. The focus of the session will be on Kabir's path of love and Understanding to the True Self. You will learn about his disdain for knowledge that doesn't translate into practical life and his insight that God is our True Self, beyond the false ego self. Through guided meditation and reflection, we will have the opportunity to experience the stillness and peace that can be cultivated through Kabir's teachings. The session will end with an invitation to think about how we can apply these teachings to our daily lives, as Kabir's ultimate message is that the path to union with the True Self is a journey of love and understanding, and it is up to each of us to put that knowledge into practice.
Lezione 2
Questioning the Falsities of Idol Worship
In this session, we will focus on one of Kabir's poems that questions the worship of statues, and reflect on the effectiveness of blind faith and ritualistic practices in achieving spiritual growth. The session will encourage participants to question their own cultural, societal, or religious baggage and to prioritize understanding over action.
Lezione 3
Beyond the Brick and Mortar: Kabir's Critique of Religious Fanaticism
In this session, we are exploring a doha by Kabir that critiques the focus on external symbols of faith and religious fanaticism. Kabir suggests that true spiritual seeking requires a deeper understanding, rooted in love and compassion rather than mere ritual or tradition. Through reflection and contemplation, we are invited to explore our own reliance on external symbols or practices and to let go of any preconceptions or beliefs that do not have any substance behind them.
Lezione 4
Holy Water & Internal Cleansing: The True Path to Purification
In this session, we will explore the idea that true purification and transformation comes from internal cleansing rather than external cleansing. We will begin by reflecting on the poem that highlights this idea and then move into a contemplation where we examine our own understanding of spiritual and religious practices. We will focus on the significance of these practices and how they can help us grow in understanding and love. We will conclude the session with a reminder that any practice that doesn't bring clarity, generate compassion, and take us away from our constant need for security is not a true spiritual path.
Lezione 5
Inner Transformation
In this session, we'll explore Kabir's poem which challenges the notion of following a specific lifestyle to attain spiritual liberation. Kabir argues that the true path to spiritual attainment is not through external practices but inner transformation. We'll recite the poem, reflect on its meaning, and take a few moments to contemplate on our own practices and their impact. Ultimately, we'll explore the importance of inner transformation and how it can be done.
Lezione 6
Take Away: Outgrowing the False
