Lezione 1
Introduction To Somatics
What is Somatics? We begin to delve into how Somatics addresses body movement and the importance of mindful attention in daily activities. We discuss habitual muscular patterns and the impact of repeating patterns that become unconscious habits. Somatics aims to alter these patterns through an active learning process. How can you enhance your sensory awareness of how you're moving throughout your day?
Lezione 2
Habitual Tendencies
There is a connection between physical experiences and mental well-being. We explore how everyday movements, from a lovely walk to chronic stress impact the body and, consequently, affect mood, thinking, and behavior. The nervous system responds to stress, creating habitual muscular engagement or contractions that become deeply ingrained. It's important to reeducate our sensory-motor system through interoception and proprioception to deal with our habitual tendencies.
Lezione 3
Reeducate Our Nervous System
We can teach our bodies to move better by reeducating our nervous system and muscles. Stretching isn't enough; we need to pay attention to our body and be aware of how we move. The overall idea is to approach our body with curiosity, as if discovering movements for the first time, and to always challenge ourselves to move slower for better results.
Lezione 4
Building Better Habits
We build better habits by becoming aware of how we move our bodies. The idea is to move gently and slowly, noticing the difference between tensing up muscles and moving in a more relaxed, Somatic way. We use the concept of building awareness by exploring how we engage and release muscles. Experiment and play with body movements to develop better habits and greater self-awareness. Self-Aware and intentional movements.
Lezione 5
The Cycle Of Somatic Learning
The ultimate goal is to develop natural, unconscious control over our movements through heightened self-awareness and somatic learning. There is a gradual process of training our brain and body to move automatically and naturally. This cycle of learning highlights the gradual steps of building awareness and control over our movements.
Lezione 6
Reflexes And Postures
We introduce the concept of reflexes and their impact on posture in the context of Somatics. It discusses three types of reflexes: the Green-Light Reflex (associated with moving forward), the Red-Light Reflex (linked to fear or withdrawal), and the Trauma Reflex (a protective/injury response). It's important to find balance and avoid a prolonged reflex. Observe our emotions and physical responses in each reflex by using your external and Somatic senses.
Lezione 7
Yoga Asana, Somatics And The Reflexes
We explore the relationship between yoga asanas and somatic exercises and how they relate to reflexes/postures. Three reflex categories- Green Light, Red Light, and Trauma - are linked to specific yoga poses and somatic exercises. With internal sensations and subtle changes to movement, you'll get to notice small differences in understanding how your body moves in yoga and other activities you do.
Lezione 8
Methodology
We emphasize the importance of how we can build kinesthetic awareness and practice movements with mindfulness. Somatic methodology naturally translates into other activities, like walking or playing sports. Minimize distractions, keep movements slow and curious, approach each practice with a beginner's mind.
Lezione 9
The History Of Somatics
Somatics is a field of movement studies and bodywork focused on internal physical sensations and experiences. We speak about various founders that developed somatic techniques based on their personal experiences with injures. These pioneers shared their knowledge that can involve breath work, movements and modalities that can fit any person's style.
Lezione 10
Conclusion
Concluding what we covered throughout the course. From the observation of reflexes and postures to building kinesthetic awareness, this is a journey of exploration. Join this holistic approach to well-being and unlock the potential of your body-mind connections. Welcome to the world of Somatics. Namaste.

The concept of the strong mind and body connection was not new to me, but I really appreciate the new tools I gained to increase my awareness and to impact positive change between my mind and body. I am working at learning to engage my shoulder blades to relieve the undue tension I put on my upper trapezius muscle which causes me pain.. Looking...
