Connections That Work - Nonviolent Communication At The Office: Advanced

Cosa imparerai
Nonviolent Communication (NVC) is the intention of seeing humanity in the other person. This intention is realized when we speak with honesty, reveal our vulnerability and come with inner clarity of our values and needs. However, at work, there can be some challenges that are different from applying NVC at home. Using my own experience of working for some of the biggest global corporations, as well as integrating Liv Larsson's insights from her book 'Human Connection At Work', I'll give you meaningful and effective ways to apply clarity and compassion without losing sight of your day-to-day priorities. Moreover, I will show you how NVC can greatly improve effective leadership by stripping away what stops human connection. This is part 2 of a 3-part course curriculum that can be taken separately or in conjunction with part 1 & 3. For optimized learning & integration, I suggest taking the courses in its intended sequence. In this Advanced Course, we'll address: 1. NVC & ‘office speak’ 2. Conflicts & mediation 3. Giving & receiving a NO 4. A human basis for Cooperation 5. Requests and demands image: Getty (licensed)

Lezione 1
'Street Giraffe' ~ Being NVC In A 'Jackal' Organization
The first session here is going to deal with how to be a 'giraffe' in a world full of 'jackals', specifically in the workplace. This can be a challenging topic to navigate, and it invites us to look for balance and an inner recognition of our needs.
Lezione 2
Staying Connected During Organizational Changes
What to do when your company is in upheaval? If organizational structures, leadership, job descriptions, location, or even the culture is undergoing a change, I argue that the most important thing to do is communicate with authenticity, honesty and spaciousness.
Lezione 3
Skillfully Dealing With Conflict & Mediation
What to do when there is a conflict at work? In the first course, we already discussed how to deal with emotions at the workplace, but how to actually deal with the technical situation of a conflict? In this session, we'll see how going to the layer of needs is the place to resolve all conflict.
Lezione 4
Saying & Receiving A 'No', While Keeping The Connection
How to deal with rejection? Two things are of crucial importance when we receive or give a no in order to maintain connection. One is that we should never take it personally, and two is the 'yes' behind every 'no'.
Lezione 5
Disambiguating A Request Versus A Demand
What separates a request from a demand is our openness to hearing a no in the case of making a request. Humans are free beings roaming this planet, and whether we sign a contract or not doesn't change that.
Lezione 6
A Human Basis For Cooperation
In this last session, I mostly want to give you some inspiration from the heart and from my own experience, which is that ultimately, what I would love to impart is that NVC is an intention to see humanity in each other. We need this on the planet right now, and that includes the workplace.
