Welcome to your meditation.
Take a moment to find a seat on the floor or on a chair and let yourself be comfortable here.
So perhaps you might even move your body a little bit until you find a sense of ease.
As you feel ready,
You can close your eyes or find a soft downward gaze and let your attention float down to where your body meets the surface beneath you.
Notice the sensation of your body pressing into the ground as the earth rises to meet you.
Taking a big breath in,
See if you can let your exhale sink you just a little bit deeper into your seat.
Bring to mind now a favorite place in nature and allow yourself to be transported there.
Let yourself go to the first place that comes into your mind's eye.
Feel yourself standing in this new yet familiar place.
As you look around and take in your surroundings,
You see a beautiful old tree.
You can begin to move towards the tree,
Perhaps noticing that its details become clearer and clearer as you draw near.
When you arrive,
Allow yourself to sit down at the base of the tree and let your back rest against its ancient trunk.
Feel your whole body relax as it sinks into the support of the tree behind you and the earth below you.
As you settle in deeper,
You start to become aware of the vibrancy of this place.
Although there is stillness and quietude,
You notice that everything feels completely alive as if every leaf and grain of soil is sparkling.
As you lean into the tree,
Feel this place greeting you,
Letting you know that you are welcome here and that your presence here is desired.
As your back rests on the tree,
You feel a knowing that this place wants to support you.
Begin to feel the energy of the tree rising up from the roots and filling your body.
You might see this energy as light or as a color,
Or you might even feel it as movement in your body.
See this root energy first illuminating your seat and your legs,
The parts of you that are touching the earth.
It then begins to flow up through your body,
Filling up your pelvis and then moving up into your belly,
Your low back,
Filling up your heart and your lungs,
And moving into your upper back.
And then this energy flows all the way down your arms to your fingers,
Beginning to fill up your hands,
Your forearms,
Into your upper arms,
Flowing up all the way into your shoulders,
Your throat,
Illuminating your jaw and your cheeks,
Moving into the space between the eyebrows and flowing all the way to the top of your head,
Bringing you a great sense of ease and peace.
Continue to feel the root energy of the tree circulating through your body,
Filling up any spaces that remain.
As your whole body is now glowing with this root energy,
Notice how it deeply connects you to the tree behind you,
The ground beneath you,
And everything around you.
As you become more connected to your surroundings,
You feel this place has more to share with you.
Take a moment to ask this place what it wants you to know.
Then listen for its answer.
As you sense your visit today coming towards an end,
Know that this place is always here and available to you,
Desiring for you to return.
See yourself now rising up from the ground and turning to face the tree to offer a gesture of gratitude for what you have received.
Maybe you take a moment to place a hand on the tree's trunk or clear away a fallen branch.
Notice that you know how to care for this tree.
As you offer your care,
Feel the tree accept your kindness.
You might even feel a smile come to your face.
And now coming back the same way that you traveled,
Let yourself return to the room that you were in.
Bring your attention back to your breath.
Slowly becoming aware of your whole body once again.
Notice any sounds that are in the space with you.
When you're ready,
Open your eyes.
