We call upon and welcome the spirits,
Guides,
And guardians of the South,
Bright,
Warm summer sunshine in the midday.
We feel the heat,
We watch it rise,
And we rise too,
Like the summer sunflower,
Tall,
Confident,
Stretching ourselves up to absorb the sun's rays.
We follow her across the sky,
With our bold,
Bright,
Unapologetic faces turned fully.
We unfurl ourselves in this season of growth and activity,
We are unafraid to be wide and full and luscious,
Like melons in the garden,
Overflowing the gate,
Running into the yard,
We will not be contained.
We are confident,
Adventurous,
And active,
We are fully alive in this season of movement and growth.
We are a vibrant garden,
Sunflowers,
Melons,
Tall leaves stretching and absorbing the sun's light making nutrients.
We are busy in the garden like our pollinator friends.
We watch the bees,
The birds,
The butterflies,
And the beetles actively tending our nourishment.
We are in wide,
Diverse community,
Full of color and sound.
We hear the birds sing,
The frogs and crickets chirp,
We hear bees buzz,
We hear the comfort of a chorus of leaves blowing in the breeze,
Warm in the summer air.
There is green life all around us.
We are held in this diverse and abundant community.
We are nourished by the earth and the air.
We are full of juicy fruit,
Like the summer strawberry sweet on our lips,
Blueberries,
Raspberries,
Summer squash,
And ripe tomatoes.
We welcome the flowers of the season,
Native prairie grasslands,
Keeping our migratory friends coming through on the breezes.
We are delicious,
We are fully alive,
We are surrounded by love and vibrant life.
Welcome warmth,
Creativity,
Making and tending,
Actively engaging in life and the world around us.
Welcome warmth,
Welcome sunshine,
Welcome south.
