We call upon and welcome the spirits,
Guides and guardians of the North,
Inspired by this time of enormous slowing down,
Hunkering down.
We are bulked up from fat bear week,
Ready for the quiet stillness of winter.
We hunker down in our den,
Getting cozy and soft with our family,
Our loved ones near,
Warm and ready for deep relaxation,
Deep restoration.
We are in our bed,
Under the quilts,
Ready for sleep,
In our cocoon,
Protected and safe from this world with a hard shell,
Ready for deep transformation.
We are lying,
Waiting,
Underground,
Dormant,
Ready to be deeply quiet,
Deeply reflective,
Deeply sleeping,
Letting our subconscious do its healing work,
Its restorative work,
Letting our body do its restorative work.
It is a time of deep quiet and night,
Mystery in the shadow,
Dreams with our nocturnal friends,
Owl,
Wolf,
Skunk,
Raccoon,
Mouse,
Bat,
All hunting,
Surviving,
Foraging in the night.
They are seekers.
We let our subconscious seek while our body rests.
We are unafraid of the shadows,
Knowing there is deep wisdom in the mystery around us.
We are inspired by the changes in the night sky,
Moving stars and satellites,
Deep darkness of the new moon and bright light of her fullest days and nights,
Welcome sparkles in the snowdrifts,
Warning off of ice,
Welcome whispers,
Quiet,
Gentle peace,
Welcome cold,
Living off our reserves,
Knowing scarcity and lack and deep desire,
Deep hunger,
Bringing us appreciation for our fullest days.
Welcome trusting abundance will come again,
Softness will come again.
We are living in the balance,
Knowing there is good in both and.
Welcome deep knowledge and wisdom.
Welcome night and darkness.
Welcome cold,
Quiet,
And most important,
Welcome rest and sleep.
Welcome winter.
