Sometimes we may find ourselves in a place where we’ve become so caught up in our responsibilities and what we “should” be doing, that we are no longer connected to our senses or to what brings us joy. This meditation will provide you with prompts to connect with your senses and start daydreaming. Once you have identified the possibilities, I hope that you will make your dreams a reality and bring more joy into your life. Background music: The Inner Calling composed by Music Of Wisdom

I would like you to join me for a few minutes to connect with your senses and to dream.

Get comfortable and close your eyes or soften your gaze.

Let's begin by taking three slow deep breaths together to help us become calm and peaceful.

Take a deep breath in and out.

Another deep breath in and out.

And a last slow breath in and out.

Throughout this exercise,

I would like you to remember that what brings you joy is unique and special to you.

For the next few minutes,

You are only going to think about what brings you joy.

Forget about what you think you should enjoy and just become curious about your own particular preferences.

I would like you to begin by connecting with your sense of touch.

Our sense of touch is the first sense we develop and it is how we connect with others and the world around us.

How do you enjoy being touched?

What do you enjoy touching?

Spend a few moments imagining the textures and sensations that allow you to joyfully connect with your sense of touch.

Let's allow your pleasant thoughts about joyful touch sensations to drift away and connect with your sense of taste.

Our sense of taste is connected to being nourished,

Healthy and alive.

Eating food that tastes good is one of life's great pleasures.

Allow yourself a few moments to think about the tastes that you enjoy.

Now allow your pleasant thoughts about joyful tastes to drift away and connect with your sense of smell.

Our sense of smell is the most evocative sense and can transport us to a happy moment in an instant.

Are there any smells that can immediately lift your mood and make you feel happy?

Allow your mind to wander and remember the smells that connect you with a sense of joy.

Allow your pleasant thoughts about joyful smells to drift away and connect with your sense of hearing.

Your sense of hearing is connected to our ability to communicate with our fellow humans but allows for so much more.

Through our sense of hearing we can become aware of the natural world as well as experience music.

Allow yourself a few moments to think about the sounds that you enjoy hearing.

Allow your pleasant thoughts about joyful sounds to drift away and connect with your sense of sight.

Our sense of sight enables us to appreciate the beauty of the world.

What are the things that you find beautiful?

Allow yourself a few moments to think about the beautiful things that make your heart happy.

Now that you have connected with all five of your senses,

I would like you to spend some time imagining a scenario that will bring you joy.

Feel free to use experiences from your past as well as things that you still dream of experiencing in the future.

Pay attention to the sensations that you will experience in your dream scenario to help your daydream feel more real.

What would you see?

Hear?

Smell?

Taste?

What will you be touching?

And how will it feel?

Savor the joyful experience that your daydream has conjured up for you.

Allow the feeling of joy to spread throughout your entire body.

Spend the last few moments thinking about how you can add aspects of your daydream to your present life.

Could there be a sensation,

A smell,

Taste,

Sound or something visual that you could add to your life to make you feel more joyful right now?

Remember that you can repeat this exercise as often as you like to help you connect with what brings you joy.

May you find ways of bringing more joy into your life every day.

You are worthy of living a life filled with joy and happiness.

That was wonderful! I have been homebound for years due to illness and I miss nature! I was able to reconnect all my five senses by imagining being outdoors again in nature. This is so wonderful! I will definitely be using this in the future. Thank you so, so much!
