We spend a great deal of time and energy in a lot of different roles in our lives.
We are caretakers to our children and sometimes our parents who are aging.
We are partners to our spouse.
We are employees or employers having to answer to a boss or a supervisor.
At times we are landscapers,
Maids,
And cooks.
We always try to be there for our family and our friends and even our pets.
With all of the rules that we participate in,
We do sometimes forget what we want,
Who we are,
And what really fills our souls.
Let's take a moment to sit so that we may focus within.
Close your eyes and get yourself into a comfortable position.
Take a deep breath in.
And hold for a moment.
And let the breath slowly leave your body.
Again,
Let's take a deep breath in.
And hold.
And breathe out slowly.
Let's focus on letting go of the stress,
Responsibilities.
And all of the roles in your life.
This time is for you and you alone.
There is nothing for you to do right now but focus on yourself.
Imagine you are outside and it's a warm day in spring.
You are sitting in a very comfortable chair when it begins to sprinkle gently.
The air is so warm that it barely cools you off.
As you sit in the chair,
You feel the rain lightly hitting the top of your head and running down your face.
You notice that it begins to wash away any tension in your forehead,
Your face.
Your jaw and your neck.
Your entire face relaxes while any thoughts that may have popped up also get washed away.
You then notice your arms and legs slowly begin to collect raindrops until they are completely wet.
Your shirt begins to get saturated along with your shorts.
As the rain covers your body,
You realize that it is washing away any tension.
Your arms become limb.
And your fingers relax.
Your legs,
Let go of any tension.
You now become completely relaxed.
Let's focus on a time when you were truly carefree and happy.
How old were you and what were you doing during this time of your life?
Pay attention to the feelings that come up.
What were the things that got you excited about life?
What type of activities did you participate in?
Did you spend time with friends?
Play sports?
Maybe ride your bike.
Play a musical instrument,
Or took dance lessons.
Let's think about all the activities that filled your soul and made you feel the most connected to yourself.
What were you like during this time period?
What were the things that made you feel good?
How did you express your thoughts and ideas?
Let's just sit with this for a moment.
Experience what it was like during this time period.
With our eyes still closed,
Let's think about how we could incorporate some of these activities in our current life.
It's important to take time for yourself and enjoy the things that makes us feel like ourselves.
Sometimes it can just be listening to music,
Dancing,
Working on a project,
Playing an instrument or a sport.
It can be as simple as being playful and having fun.
Reminding yourself of the things that brings meaning in your life is important.
People will come and go,
But the person you spend the most time with is you.
It's important to make this time amazing.
Let's take a few minutes to brainstorm what we can add to our lives to reconnect to ourselves.
Now that we have made a conscientious decision to make time to connect to ourselves,
Let's slowly wake up to follow through with this promise.
Let's take a deep breath in.
And hold.
I'll slowly breathe out.
Again,
Let's breathe in.
And hold.
And again,
Breathe out.
Let's stretch out our arms and hands.
Stretch out your legs and feet.
Bring your head to one side and then to the other.
Let's slowly open our eyes.
Let's continue to follow through with this intention as we go throughout our week.
Take care and have a wonderful rest of your day.
