This is a guided meditation for when you judge yourself for not feeling your best.
Sometimes we feel anxious,
Exhausted,
Frustrated,
Or frazzled.
When we experience these emotions,
Particularly due to them not feeling pleasant,
We can become disappointed with ourselves,
Which in return exasperates them.
So let's take a moment to sit with what we are experiencing and understand we go through a lot during the day.
We have to follow schedules,
Meet demands,
And we try to be there for our family and friends.
We have to accept that our emotions,
Our energy levels,
And motivation will shift and that this is normal.
It is important to give yourself some compassion and realize that we are doing our best instead of judging ourselves.
Now let's either sit back into our chair or lay down in a comfortable position.
Let your hands rest gently by your side and close your eyes.
Notice the weight of your body.
Notice your feet touching the floor.
Feel your legs relax as they've been carrying you all day.
Notice your stomach give way and the feeling of your back against the chair or on the floor.
Pay attention to your neck and how it connects to the base of your head,
Which is now very heavy.
Now let's take a deep breath in.
Hold it and let it go gently.
Let's do this two more times.
Breathe in and breathe out.
Hold it.
One more time.
Breathe in.
Let's now return to those judgments we have made about ourselves.
We need to remember that we can't expect ourselves to feel energized and motivated every day.
We are human and not robots and need to be more gentle with ourselves.
Often these judgments stem from our childhood and are not even ours to hold or carry.
Remember that just showing up for yourself today is a win and that what we are feeling is temporary.
Now I want you to notice where you feel those harsh judgments in your body.
Are they in your chest,
Your stomach,
Or in your shoulders?
Sometimes they can sit in your hips or your back.
Pay attention to how those areas feel.
Do they feel tight,
Unsettled,
Or painful?
Let's take another deep breath and this time I want you to imagine your breath surrounding those judgments locked in your body.
Now take a deep breath.
Hold.
And now as you release,
Imagine your breath carrying out all those judgments.
Let your breath take the tightness and uncomfortability away as you breathe out.
You do not need these feelings nor do they serve any purpose.
Again,
Take another breath while filling up your body and hold it.
And again,
Release those emotions as you breathe out.
I want you to do this two more times.
Now that we've released the judgments,
The difficult thoughts and feelings,
It's time to wake our body up.
Let's start with our hands and feet.
I want you to squeeze them gently and let go.
Do this a few more times.
Then we can start to contract our legs and arm muscles.
Bring your shoulders up and in.
Let go of any remnants left behind.
Now let's rock our head from side to side and open our eyes.
Let's spend the rest of the day with the intention to not judge how we are feeling and how we are functioning.
We will remind ourselves that we are simply doing our best.
Have a wonderful day and take care.
