Hello and welcome to our meditation today.
I invite you to find a comfortable seat.
You could do this meditation sitting in a chair or lying down.
Find a place that feels grounded and relaxing.
Feel yourself supported.
For our session.
I invite you to set an intention around the word humility.
Humility is a profound strength.
When we foster the characteristic of humility,
We become better listeners and allow ourselves to learn from others.
Humility opens doors to being more respectful,
Empathetic,
And better at building trust.
People who carry humility tend to be more approachable and supportive.
Qualities that are felt by other people.
When we allow ourselves to be humble,
We recognize that we do not know everything,
And that is okay.
We open ourselves up to new ideas and perspectives.
Important for our personal growth.
Humility helps us to experience greater peace of mind.
We no longer search for validation from others.
We appreciate and feel grateful for who we are today.
And for our place in the world.
Cultivating humility takes practice and intention.
Humility comes when we focus on understanding the viewpoints of other people and stop ourselves from judging.
Humility comes when we acknowledge our own mistakes.
And take responsibility for them.
Rather than placing blame on others.
Humility comes when we hold gratitude for the ways other people have helped us to grow.
Humility grows when we ask others for ways that we can improve.
Humility grows when we consider the needs and perspectives of others alongside our own.
Make humility a priority in your life.
Not only does it have a positive effect on self-awareness,
But it can help keep you grounded.
Humility embraces your humanity.
The essences of your worth.
So as we get ready for our meditation today,
I invite you to relax.
Close your eyes.
Let your hands fall naturally by your side or maybe in your lap.
Settle into the moment and take a few deep breaths.
Breathe deep into your belly.
Inhale through your nose.
Exhale slowly from your mouth.
Repeat this a few more times.
Inhale.
And exhale.
Think of a word.
Or a simple phrase.
Something that helps you focus on this moment.
Something that feels empowering,
Or maybe it feels healing.
I invite you to softly say it now.
Repeat it again.
And as often as you need.
So if you have not already,
I invite you now to close your eyes.
Let's go on a walk together.
Imagine standing on a quiet sidewalk.
As you look around.
.
.
You see a tree lined street.
Sidewalks line the road.
We decide to walk down this quiet neighborhood,
Embracing the peace it seems to bring.
Bits of white picket fence pop up here and there.
Some flowery bushes are along the sidewalk.
Smell the beauty of the blossoms.
The trees are so tall with green leaves all around.
The trunks are large.
Almost protective.
Some trees have swings hanging from branches.
Other trees seem to be filled with birds.
As you notice the sound of the birds.
You begin to notice other sounds.
You hear a distant lawnmower.
You begin to smell the fresh cut grass.
It must be close.
You hear kids playing in another yard.
Laughing,
Yelling,
Cheering.
It seems they're playing a game together.
One child passes you on a bike.
We smile at each other.
You can hear the sound of the tires on the concrete.
The rattle of the bike.
You continue walking,
Taking in the sounds.
The smells.
And the sites.
Brightly colored flowers and shrubs complement the green grass and tree leaves.
You notice the color of the houses.
Some way.
Some grades.
Maybe one is blue.
You feel so much joy as you think about the life that happens in this neighborhood.
Enjoy the sensations that come from this moment.
Imagine a slight breeze on your skin.
The sun rays that are shining down upon you.
The happiness that is bubbling inside.
As you pass by the houses,
You notice a park in the distance.
It looks inviting.
A nice little place to sit.
Doesn't look far.
So you decide to head that way.
To continue enjoying this moment.
The sky seems so blue.
Not a cloud in sight.
It could be called a perfect day.
Park is absolutely beautiful.
Green grass everywhere.
Trees dotting the landscape.
Walking paths winding their way through the large area.
Playgrounds.
Baseball diamonds,
A small pond.
This park seems to have it all.
You notice benches along the walking path near the pond.
What color are the benches?
What makes these benches so inviting?
Almost as if they are calling you to come sit and watch for a bit.
You choose a nearby bench and have a seat.
You gaze out over the pond.
You see the other parts of the park in front of you.
What do you notice about the pond?
Maybe they're fish swimming.
Water plants growing.
Few ducks floating,
Bobbing around.
As you look across the water,
You notice a man walking his dog.
He seems so content.
So happy to be together.
This moment is incredibly relaxing.
You feel such joy to be having this experience.
You smile.
Life feels so good and so perfect.
You are content with all you have.
Close your eyes.
With a smile still on your face.
You take a deep breath.
Almost as if you are taking a mental photo of this experience.
As you open your eyes and look around,
You see a box sitting next to the bench.
You reach over and pick it up.
This small gift is meant for you.
You open it up with curiosity and wonder.
There is nothing inside.
Instead.
.
.
You notice a feeling flooding through you.
This feeling of humility.
Feeling has seeded inside of you.
You notice a change taking place.
It's not clear what change is happening.
But you know that everything is different now.
Everything has seemed to change.
You feel more confident.
You feel more grateful.
You feel happier.
You feel capable.
And able to handle anything thrown in front of you.
Everything feels like it is supposed to be.
You embody the idea of joy.
You decide to relish in this feeling.
And take a moment to embrace how this makes you feel.
Take another deep breath.
In through your nose.
Gently out through your mouth.
The sun feels so warm on your skin.
You lift your face up to the sky to soak in the lovely feeling that is surrounding you.
Once again you smile.
Life is good.
This moment is good.
What feels different now?
What do you feel capable of?
How do you know that it has a place inside of you?
How will you let it manifest?
As you end this journey,
You feel like giving thanks.
Do so now.
What would you say?
Who would you say it to?
Offer saints.
With a grateful heart.
To come back into our bodies.
Take some deep belly breaths.
N.
And out.
And out.
Wiggle your toes.
Wiggle your fingers.
Rock your head from side to side.
Slowly and gently.
Open your eyes.
I invite you to find a way.
Just take this intention of humility.
And make it a part of your everyday life.
From this moment.
Going forward.
