In this cord-cutting meditation, we walk through a visualization of cutting the cord with someone who you would like to sever an energetic tie to. Throughout, you are in control of the experience and have a choice on how the visualization proceeds. Cord-cutting meditations can be done with people who are still in your life; you just want to be free from their draining influence. It is also great for after breakups when you want to sever energetic ties so you can move on. Enjoy!

This is a cord cutting meditation.

If you're not familiar with a cord cutting meditation,

This is meant to help you cut energetic ties with someone you no longer want to have draining your energy.

This could be an ex,

This could be family members,

This could be a co-worker.

Whoever you feel has been taking up space and energy in your life that you would like to cut that tie with on an energetic level.

You may still have this person in your life,

However through practicing a cord cutting meditation you can minimize the energetic drain that that person has on you.

Let's begin.

Get comfortable in a seated position.

Notice your breath as you naturally breathe in and out.

As you notice your breath,

Start to take deeper breaths deep into your core,

Letting your belly relax and expand in through your nose and out through your mouth.

When you're ready,

Start activating your imagination.

Imagine yourself somewhere you feel safe.

It could be in your house or at the beach,

In a forest,

It could be somewhere real,

Or it could be somewhere completely made up.

Continue to breathe.

Now that you're settled,

Invite the person you're looking to cut the cord with into your meditation.

Let your imagination fill in all of the details from their facial expressions,

Their clothes,

And more.

See them in all of their detail.

Thank them for coming to meet you today and feel all of those feelings that you have.

And feel all of those feelings that you associate with them.

Continue to breathe through whatever's coming up.

Breathe into the discomfort that you feel with this person and release bit by bit as you breathe out.

You are safe here.

Look down and see the cord or the cords that connect you both.

How many cords are there?

Where on your body and where on the other person's body are they attached?

Let your imagination fill in the details and don't question what you see.

Just let it happen.

Your imagination is very powerful.

What does the cord look like?

The color,

The texture,

How thick it is.

Notice every detail.

Breathe in and breathe out.

You're safe.

You have two choices.

You can cut the cord or you can pull it out of your own body.

Whatever resonates with you.

I'll walk you through cutting the cord first.

If you decide to cut the cord,

You can choose your tool.

You are in control.

Imagine yourself wielding whatever you choose.

It may be scissors,

It might be a sword,

It might be fire.

You raise your tool and you easily cut through the cord between you and the person.

And as you cut through the cord,

The cord fizzles away,

Leaving no sign of its prior form.

Into thin air.

If you choose to pull the cord out,

Make sure you pull all of it out,

Including the roots,

Leaving no trace behind.

Just imagine yourself grabbing the cord and removing it from your body.

If there are several,

Removing the other cords as well.

Regardless of what you chose,

Feel the relief wash over you as it leaves your body,

Freeing not just you,

But the other person as well.

Check in with yourself and see if there's anything else you need.

See this person now separated from you.

See them in their innocence and light.

See the best version of them.

The version that is no longer draining energy from you.

You are both free.

Breathe,

Thank them for showing up and release them.

You may remain in the same state of mind as you are now,

But you may not be able to stop and release them.

You may remain in meditation for as long as you would like.

You might repeat this process with someone else you feel you need to cut ties with,

And you can also repeat this meditation with the same person if you feel there is still some tie between you,

And that may be necessary if you have a very strong connection with this person.

Regardless,

Know you are safe and in control always,

And you get to choose your own journey.
