Hey,

How are you today?

Is it one of those heavy days where nothing really goes our way?

Or we feel a little bit unloved by the world?

Perhaps this might be a good opportunity for us to look within and explore self-love.

For many of us in our upbringing,

Self-love has been rather discouraged.

It's almost selfish to love yourself or to put yourself first.

But as we all grow up and become adults,

We learn now that self-love is one of the most beautiful,

Precious,

And crucial things we'll ever explore in this human journey.

So let me share a little passage on self-love.

Maybe it resonates with you,

Maybe it solidifies certain things that you already knew,

Maybe it will open your heart to a new level of what self-love is.

If what I'm sharing here resonates with you in any form,

Please do let me know in the comments below.

I'd love to hear from you.

Self-love.

How we feel and treat us is how we treat others.

If we have high expectations for ourselves,

We naturally set the bar for those around us to live up to them too.

People will feel I have high expectations of them as I do for myself.

Is it possible for us then to step away from this expectation of perfection for ourselves and sink in to a softer version of self-love?

What does it even mean to self-love?

What would that look like?

Some of us have had caregivers who didn't really know what it was to love themselves,

So they couldn't model for us what self-love really looked like.

This one is for those little inner children who never had the opportunity to see self-love being modeled through their caregivers.

Self-love.

To love yourself fully,

Be the love that is forgiving and lenient.

Be the love that sees the humor in the imperfections and accepts the fullness in the human experience.

For our inability to love and accept all these pieces of ourselves creates little ripples,

Leaving a trail of tiny acts of violence against our own selves.

Let's do one more Let's do one more together.

Take a deep breath through the mouth.

Feel the body as much as you can and drop through the mouth completely exhaling.

How do you feel my friend?

Wishing you a day of easefulness and softness into your beautiful heart.

Take care.

Until next time.

A short and beautiful track. A lovely explanation of self-love. You brought awareness to my “little acts of violence against myself”. I never thought of it that way. When I discipline my child, project on to her and hold her to a high standard, I feel remorse and sadness. I see my daughters tears and sadness. Perhaps they reflect my own inner child, who is hurt by my those in my past, and now myself. I realise how my actions are damaging to my daughter and I. I am constantly seeking better ways to parent. Thank you for your calming voice and bringing awareness to my need to cultivate more self-love.
