Hey everyone!
Today I wanted to make a quick video about childlike joy.
And my question for you at the start of this video is,
Where do you experience childlike joy?
Do you at all?
I was thinking about this this morning as I put on my sweatshirt and felt a deep rush of joy because I recently got this sweatshirt and it's merchandise that I found online quoting one of my favorite book series of all time.
My favorite book series of all time,
Which is a fantasy book series for young adults called Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas.
And,
You know,
There's like a dragon on the front,
There's a quote,
There's dragons on the back,
And I just love it.
You know,
I was interviewing someone yesterday for my work,
And the first thing she said was,
Are those Star Wars posters behind you?
Yes,
Yes they are.
So I really value childlike joy and wonder and awe.
It's something that I never want to lose because it keeps this vitality in me and it reminds me that not everything is so serious.
And I have a lot of hobbies that I either wanted to do as a kid and couldn't,
Or I love doing as a kid.
So I'm,
You know,
A 30 something year old adult learning the drums for the first time.
That's hard and fun.
I'm playing video games.
You know,
I read the books that I want to read,
Not the books that I think I should read.
I just,
I personally really love that.
And I think that for years,
I personally didn't engage in the things that bring me deep childlike joy because I thought I'm too old for this.
What will it look like?
How will I be perceived?
I have so many more important things to do.
And what I have found is that by just creating space for that childlike joy,
Everything else feels more manageable too.
I can't pour from an empty cup,
But so what is filling my cup?
For me,
There are a lot of things that can fill my cup,
But engaging in deep,
Deep joy and activities that bring me deep joy helps fill that cup pretty quickly.
So my question to you,
Once again,
Is where does childlike joy fit into your life and does it?
And if you abandoned the fear or the hesitation or the resistance to doing what actually called to you internally,
What do you think you'd be doing?
What hobbies would you bring into your life?
And what would it take to walk through those barriers and just say,
I'm just going to try and see what happens.
That's my question,
That's my challenge,
And I would absolutely love to hear your responses.
If you're able to comment on this or when you review it,
Whether it's positive or not so positive,
I'd love to hear what hobbies or what activities that bring you childlike joy are in your life.
I would love to know.
