This is a guided Lovingkindness meditation recorded live from retreat with Burgs, over accompanying music. In this meditation we learn to enter into and abide in a state lovingkindness paying attention to and concentrating upon an emerging feeling of love itself that arises within our experience. The music is designed to help steer you into a deeper state of relaxation and connection. We hope you enjoy.

Transcript

Let your body relax into the posture that you are sitting in.

Briefly review your body to check that there is no tension that you are holding on to.

Relax your body.

Let the flesh relax around the bones.

And in the same way that you relax the muscles in your body,

Relax your mind.

In the way that our body can be tense or stiff,

So too our mind.

Let your mind soften and relax.

Relax your heart.

Tune back in.

From the deepest,

Subtlest part of your heart,

Feel the stillness that was always there.

Always rested in the background and always will.

That was never disturbed.

See if you can't get a sense of the profound,

Unwavering love that lies in that stillness.

It's the ground of everything.

That love lies in the deepest part of your heart and is the very ground of your being.

And it is the place where our sense of separation ends.

We are all an expression of a single process.

That always and everywhere is doing everything it can to express itself as love.

And it only ever fails to do that when it is obscured or smothered in some way.

So all you have to do is learn to step aside,

To get out of the way enough to trust the intelligence behind your life and let it start to support you.

It is not an empty space.

It contains that unfathomable love that is the ground of your being.

Learn to honor it in your lives,

Create a space for it,

Come back to it.

It will always show you the way to go.

Beyond the arising and passing of your mind and its display and everything it has got entangled with,

That true nature,

Your Buddha nature,

Has always rested effortlessly in a state of grace and it is not in conflict.

So if you can't feel your heart,

Then work at it because in your heart is the intelligence that will support your life and will always show you the way to go.

May all beings in all directions without exception come out of confusion and despair and find real peace and happiness and come to know love.

Reflecting on this precious human life that we have.

Reflection to yourself inside three times.
