The sun is setting.
And you decide to go for a walk in an English garden.
You enter through ornate black wrought iron gates,
Which have winding wisteria entwined around them.
And you are immediately met with the fragrance of lovely lavender.
A feeling of calm comes over you as you take a deep breath in.
And then exhale.
Another deep breath in.
Deep breath out.
You walk past the lavender and through a beautiful archway of roses.
The flowers are all shades of red,
Pink,
Yellow.
And creamy white.
Their delicate petals are as soft as pillows.
You meander down the winding path and through another archway to where heady hibiscus grows.
And you see buttery yellow buttercups and delightful daisies in the lawn.
And they are drooping drowsily.
And you start to feel drowsy too.
You wander over to the fountain and listen to the relaxing sound of the bubbling water,
Which relaxes you even more.
The pretty peonies are softly swaying in the warm evening breeze,
And their perfume permeates your senses,
Soothing and calming you.
You walk over to the sundial and gaze at the shadows as they slowly move.
You feel hypnotized.
And then the sweet smell of honeysuckle wafts to you.
Drawing you to the flowers covering a trellis wall.
You allow your fingers to caress the petals as you stroll on by.
Breathing deeply to inhale the soft air.
Sugary scents.
You pass through another archway covered with twisted ivy.
A few drowsy bumblebees are buzzing around.
Their soothing sounds soothe your soul.
You spot a swing,
Surrounded by climbing clematis and jasmine.
You sit on the swing and swing.
Forward and backwards,
Backwards and forward until your eyes start to close.
The swing comes to a gentle stop and you decide to ramble over to the wildflowers.
Pretty wildflowers,
So many colours,
Blues and pinks and yellows,
Lovely soothing soft pastel shades.
You follow the winding path to the blooming hydrangeas,
Lovely pansies and sweet peas,
So colourful and joyful to look at.
The little orchard with its fruit trees is a pleasure to wander through,
Slowly and aimlessly.
You spy a silver birch tree,
So you walk over and run your hands over the rough bark.
There is a pond next to the tree.
And the lily pads gently bob along the surface.
Fragrant foxgloves,
Heavenly hollyhocks and dancing delphimiums rock side to side.
And you start to feel sleepy.
Vivid violets,
Their soft powdery aroma swirls around your head and your eyes start to feel heavy.
The tranquil sounds of the fountain echo through the garden.
Intermingling with the soft musical notes of wind chimes.
An overwhelming sense of peace surrounds you.
You wander over to the weeping willow trees and listen to the whispering wind blowing through the leaves.
You walk on the soft and springy lawn and head to the maze made from hedges and take each twisty turn.
Going the wrong way and then the right way.
Left and right and right and left and round and round until you arrive at the centre.
You sit down on the little bench,
Which is surrounded by fragrant herbs,
Mint,
Rosemary and thyme.
And now it is time to sleep.
You close your eyes and breathe in the fresh garden-scented air and fall asleep.
