In this whimsical tale, little Maida is motherless, lame & weak from illness. Then, her wealthy father buys her a small shop near Boston for her to tend. The shop is transformed into a delightful place for the neighborhood children & Maida's life becomes meaningful & vibrant & filled with friendship.
