Somatics 101: Self Connection & Embodied Presence
This lesson introduces the foundational principles of somatic practice to support self-connection and embodied presence. Drawing from both experiential and philosophical roots, you’ll explore how somatics helps us attune to sensation, shift our inner orientation, and develop a relationship with ourselves and the world around us that is compassionate, curious, and rooted in lived experience. Whether you're new to this work or revisiting the basics, this session offers a clear and grounded entry point for integrating somatic awareness into your daily life.
Leçon 2
Awakening Exteroception
In this guided practice we will play with the sensory system of exteroception. Exteroception is the way we sense our external environment through our traditional 5 senses – eyes, ears, nose, mouth, and skin. The objective is to build your muscle of attention and grow the ability to both direct attention to take in sensory information, and also notice what sensations draw your attention, or grab your attention to it. This is a way we can engage with our direct environments with embodied presence and create a sense of connection. You may notice that by attending to your embodied experience might also facilitate a sense of groundedness, centeredness, and visceral connection.
Leçon 3
Awakening Interoception
In this guided practice we will explore our internal senses, or our interoception. This is how we receive signals from our body that communicate our internal state, including basic cues such as hunger or pain, as well as, nervous system and emotional states. Learning to bring greater awareness to our internal sense can help us with emotional regulation and understanding our needs.
