This course is designed as an introductory guide to the creation of your own short story – one in which your voice will be seen and heard.
I have written this course as an empowering tool to use when collating your memories and experiences. This course may be used over and over again as you revisit each separate experience to further understand and make peace with it.
In this course, you will use one significant moment from your past as a starting point to revisit and create the outcome you want.
This course is written by an author and qualified teacher of English Literature. It draws upon her experience of writing which spans 25 years plus. Please note: LIVE session every Friday take place to compliment this course. They are also available as free tracks if you cannot attend at the time.
Stephanie has been a teacher of English Literature for over twenty years, and an author for ten. She writes radio dramas, screen plays, fantasy short stories and longer novels. Writing this course has been a cathartic experience in itself, as it has enabled her to translate and so share, the many benefits of documenting those words and thoughts which come to us when we are our most authentic selves....
Leçon 1
Inciting Moment And Characterisation
Today we will place a spotlight on the inciting moment where your short story begins, and we will look at the characters you wish to feature. This will be the content of your first scene. There will be three scenes in your story, reflected in the three lessons.
Leçon 2
Setting And Plot Development
Today we are discussing setting and plot development. In this lesson we will be focusing on the senses and imagery, as we look at the protagonist when they are left alone to make sense of what had happened. There will also be the opportunity to focus on the setting they are in, and the decisions they make as a result.
Leçon 3
Resolution
In this lesson we reflect on what has happened, how the characters interacted, and the conclusions made as a result. The final chapter can be simultaneously happy and sad, reflective and progressive. There are no rules here. This chapter is about understanding and acceptance.
