The breath is a fundamental pillar of our well-being but sadly it is often overlooked. This course will help you create a deeper awareness of your breath, move you towards more functional breathing patterns, and guide you through a range of contemporary and ancient breathing techniques. Each session is a combination of theory and practice, so you are confident with the ‘why’ and ‘how’ when it comes to breathing techniques. Understand the roles gases such as oxygen, carbon dioxide, and nitric oxide play in our well-being. How stress affects the breath and how we can use the breath to break stress cycles. Then, leverage breathing techniques to enhance contraction, aid sleep, and build resilience. Once you have the grounding these techniques will be something you will enjoy dropping into each and everyday, so you can meet the challenges of modern life.
Having utilized yoga, meditation, and pranayama to reduce the pain experience associated with an autoimmune disease, Shane wants to share these techniques with others, so they can live with less suffering in their lives.

Leçon 1
Breath Awareness
Develop a greater awareness of your breath in order to learn how to breathe more efficiently. Start to notice the muscles involved and how slowing down your breathing influences your nervous system.
Leçon 2
CO2 Tolerance
The urge to breathe arises from CO2, not from a lack of oxygen. As a result, a key component in why many of us overbreathe is our relationship with CO2. Embark on a breathing technique that uses neuroplasticity to change our nervous systems response to CO2.
Leçon 3
Strength
Start to enhance the ability of your primary breathing muscles. Today we use gentle resistance in the form of Ujjayi pranayama and alternate nostril breathing to get our diaphragm and abdominal wall firing.
Leçon 4
Creating Space
Our lungs need space to fully expand. Modern postures, tight clothing, and tension in the body gets in the way of our lungs being fully utilized. Explore some techniques to gain space for our respiratory system to operate more efficiently.
Leçon 5
Coherence
Combine the techniques you have already learnt to warm you up for coherent breathing. Coherent breathing uses the optimal breathing ratio to activate your vagus nerve and bring your nervous system into a state of calm.
Leçon 6
Deep Relaxation
Leverage the practice of Bhramari pranayama to increase the nitric oxide levels for more efficient oxygenation of the body. This practice also creates deep states of calm because of the humming sound that resonates around the head.
Leçon 7
Combinations
It's not often that something can be energizing and calming at the same time but try this combination of the previous practices we have explored. This session will oxygenate your body and mind while putting your nervous system at ease ready for the challenges that lie ahead.

Daily Practice
Continue to enhance your respiratory system and nervous system with this 20-minute daily practice.

This was FANTASTIC! I did this every night before bed and slept peacefully through the night each night. Previously I was waking up once or twice- even more during the night. If I skipped a night my body went back to restless sleep. I plan to do the 8 days again. I want to make taking fewer breaths a habit. Thank you so much for this practice.
