Leçon 1
Death: The Elephant In The Room
Welcome to this introspective exploration on death anxiety in our course, "A Philosopher's Guide to Death Anxiety." As the undeniable reality of our mortality confronts each of us, we often grapple with fear, uncertainty, and the quest for meaning. This lesson immerses you in a profound personal account, blending real-life experiences with philosophical ponderings. As you delve deeper, you'll be prompted to examine your feelings, beliefs, and attitudes towards death, ultimately embarking on a transformative journey towards a more reasoned and grounded perspective on life and its eventual end.
Leçon 2
You Can Never Know Death
In this introspective lesson, we delve deep into the human psyche to explore our intrinsic fear of death. By probing into the very essence of death and pain, the lesson challenges the conventional notion that death is the ultimate harm. Drawing on the wisdom of the ancient philosopher Epicurus and the poignant reflections of the Roman poet Lucretius, it underscores the idea that death, in essence, is a non-experience. This discourse prompts listeners to reimagine their perceptions of death, considering the vast stretches of non-existence we've already undergone prior to life. As a philosophical and therapeutic exploration, the lesson seeks to alleviate the crippling weight of death anxiety and beckons us to question whether there are, in fact, fates graver than death itself.
Leçon 3
The Curse Of Immortality
In this thought-provoking lesson, we invite you on a philosophical exploration into the age-old fantasy of immortality. While the prospect of an eternal life may seem tempting at first, offering infinite opportunities and experiences, we unravel the deeper implications of such an existence. Through evocative imagery, poignant insights, and deep reflections, we uncover the paradoxical nature of endless life and the unparalleled value of our finite existence. What might appear as the ultimate gift could very well be a profound curse. This lesson prompts us to ponder not just the end, but the very essence of life and the myriad emotions and relationships that define it.
Leçon 4
Death In Four Dimensions
In today's lesson, we challenge our understanding of life's temporal nature and delve deep into the philosophical and scientific contemplations surrounding our existence. By viewing our lives through the lens of the fourth dimension, we attempt to redefine the concept of death, its implications, and the immense gratitude we should hold for the gift of life. Through poetic imagery, profound quotes, and intricate reasoning, we aim to help you not just come to terms with death but to embrace the unique significance and potential of every moment.

I’ve been contemplating death (my own and others) since childhood-so this topic isn’t anxiety provoking but instead vital for life to keep front and center. I always appreciate Jon’s courses, they are provocative and a fun listen (that may not be the choice of words most would use but honestly that’s my take!) Thank you 🙏🏼 !
